so who can recommend a place/person who can replace the thermostat in my 2002 sunfire for a reasonable price? also, what can I expect to pay?

at 420 Pacific, Dad got one installed and it wasn't too costly.

It's actually really easy to do yourself... I did mine on my sunfire by myself and I'm not very mechanically savvy.

Usually its just a couple of nuts/bolts to take off. Just did one on a jimmy. $7 for the part and 10 min to do the job. What's the problem? No heat in the cab? Also could be a plugged heater core.

so just had it priced out at local garage and they want over $200 to do it.

i wouldnt pay $200, its a cheap part and last shop rate i heard was $95hr which should be plenty time, id say DYI it or look for another shop

The only easy sunfish is an ohv 2.2 l. The ecotec engine involves removing the exhaust manifold to change it. So if that's the case, $200 sounds reasonable.

is a 2.2 but I am not able to do this myself....no garage, no tools etc. so this is the only option.lol

I have the same motor. I saw on Youtube it's simple and cheap. The part was $10 at Cdn Tire. It would take about 20 minutes. Will have to drain off some antifreeze (the hoses/engine block that are higher than thermostat will need to be drained). A pre-mixed jug of antifreeze is only about $10.00. I use a disposable pan from dollar store, a ratchet and screwdriver.
