liftgate striker adjustments

    liftgate striker adjustments

    Hi all I have an SUV that needs the striker adjusted for the liftgate. It does lock and latch currently but either the gate or striker needs just some fine tuning or s good smash with a hammer. Anyone know a good person to do this? I'm pretty sure it's the striker. Ive narrowed it down to that. Please any help would be great. Thank you m. -Rob

    Look for wear on the striker. If you don't see a groove wore into it where the latch strikes it then it should be ok unless it is bent. Check the screws holding the latch on and make sure they are tight. I'm just guessing but you have to slam it hard for it to shut? Try wd40 or lithium grease and spray every moving part in the latch then open and close your hatch 5-10 times.
