In our case MPI said they would

We were in Winnipeg this fall when the person in the lane next to us decided to try to share ours. The result was dent that ran from the passenger side front door to the rear quarter panel resulting in $6000 in damage to the doors of our mid-size SUV. Our 12 month old daughter was in her car seat in the second row on that side. The accident happened at slow speed, the car was completely driveable, the doors opened and closed as normal, and no one in either vehicle was hurt. The car seat wasn't even touched and was basically brand new. But MPI told us that they would replace the car seat. I was told this by both the claims adjuster I dealt with on the phone, and by the adjuster who evaluated the damage at the MPI garage. We ordered a new one and intend to swap them this weekend when the weather warms up. MPI told us to drop off the old with our receipt and they will send a cheque.
We weren't going to bother at first, but then decided better safe than sorry.
