Has anyone else gotten a message about their car for sale...and the person wanted to use pay pal? It has happened twice to me.....its clearly a scam...I find it very annoying..and slightly rude...Do they think I'm stupid?

They don't necessarily think you re stupid but a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.  
That's what scammers do, send out to 10000 people and if one falls for it then they are happy I guess. I just ignore it or send back a crazy message asking them to send me a envelope full of cash instead.

That sums it up nicely.  
 
A lot of people are too trusting, are completely unaware of paypals payment reversal policy, and get items and usually a fair chunk of change taken away from them. And it's almost always the seller that gets shafted.  
 
Basically, unless the seller has a signature of the buyer acknowledging the delivery of the item, the buyer can place a refund claim and get away with it undisputed. And if a "friend" signs for the item on behalf of the buyer, you're also on the hook since the product wasn't delivered to the buyer directly.  
 
It's a stupid system, but that's how paypal works, and a lot of people fall for this trap every day.

so how do they expect to pick the vehicle up?  
I'd play this out as far as I can, sounds like a hoot!!!  
have fun with this, hold back on your personal info but feed into it... you'll pi$$ off the sad bugger at the other end...

the person said that they would send someone once i got the payment. just slightly annoyed. Good thing i got common sense... lol

using the car as an example. what they'll do is agree to buy the car(lets say that's $5000), usually they live far away. They say that their friend is going to pick it up on their behalf, but they have to get paid a delivery fee, something like $1500 which they'll give to you on top of the purchase price of the car. Once terms are met, you get $6500. When their friends shows up and signs the paperwork for the car, takes the $1500 for delivery fees and takes off with the car. Fast forward a few days, and the buyer puts in a claim with paypal stating product not received, or does a payment reversal.  
 
Since you never gave the car to the buyer, but to their friend, they use a loop hole in the policy for paypal and you're basically SOL.  
 
So you'll end up with no car, and -$1500.
