I'm currently looking for a bigger vehicle for our family. We currently have an Equinox which has worked well for our family but it's just too small for us now. My husband refuses to let me buy a van although I know it would be a lot cheaper than buying an SUV. I wanted a van, he wanted a truck.. So we compromised & we're getting an SUV. We can't decide whether to go with the GMC Acadia or a Chevy Traverse. We've already been approved for a 2015 GMC Acadia SLE 2. But I had my heart set on a Chevy Traverse. So I don't know what to do! If someone can give me a little more info about either these vehicles, maybe some pros and cons. If you owned one, how did you like it? What would you suggest? Any bit of information is appreciated! Thanks.

They're the same vehicle, get whatever you can get a better deal on.

I have a Traverse and I love it. The only thing I would like different is that the second row of seats can be tricky to get to flip forward to get to the third row (I have an 8 passenger). Other then that it's been I a good vehicle.

A traverse and an Acadia are essentially the same vehicle, just slightly different looks. We looked at both 3 years ago and decided on the Acadia because it came in the colour we wanted. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Acadia! The only thing I would change is in between the front seats it has a built in console which I find it gets in the way sometimes. Our last vehicle just had an open space there and it was handy for my purse, a small bag, or whatever. But other than that minor issue I am totally happy with my Cady! Good luck with whatever you choose.

They are the same vehicle like everyone else has said. The Buick Enclave is also the same, it's just the exterior of all of them that are designed different.  
 
If you are looking for a less expensive vehicle, I'd go with the Traverse. An Acadia gets a bit more fancy, and the Buick is the top end. I have driven both an Acadia and an Enclave, and like the Acadia way better.  
 
I would just make a list of all of the options you want, and find whichever works in your price range the best.

I had a van and went to an Acadia and couldn't be happier! Why I ever got a van I don't know. I test drove both but went with the acadia in the end because the traverse reminded me too much of a van in its appearance and interior. I have a seven seater acadia and very glad we chose that over the eight - nice captains seats that depart my kids lol. I will be hard pressed to switch vehicles!

How is the Acadia on gas? I know it probably doesn't have the best gas mileage considering it is a bigger SUV.

I have a 2014 acadia slt2 on highway I'm averaging 9.5 L/100kms in the city i'm usually around 12 L/100km.  
 
That's usually with 2 adults, 1 teen and 2 kids under 3 in the vehicle.

I average 11.5L/100km

What about a jeep, I'm planning on buying one, how are they on gas? I would love to hear some reviews. Thanks

for about 2 1/2 yrs and used to haul a 19' ft travel trailer to california and back. Was a little underpowered going over the rockies (3.7 Litre-V6). Could put a 4x8 sheet plywood /drywall in back- lots of cargo room. The reason I picked acadia over traverse are the cleaner lines at the back windows. I thought the curved rear side corners caused a larger blindspot on both sides. cheers

Thank you everyone for your input! I ended up going with the 2017 Chevy Traverse. We got one hell of a deal! I'm super excited, it has everything we want in a vehicle. I liked the older Acadia's over the new ones. The 2017 Acadia models are MUCH smaller than the older ones. I have no idea what gmc was thinking when they redesigned the Acadia. Anyways, thank you everyone. I really appreciate it
