Your at fault pay your deductible.

Will it affect my license ?

Yes, it will go against your license unfortunately. This happened with my cousin, but with a deer. I hope everything works out for you!

but when we hit a deer the deductible was covered and nothing changed with the license.  
 
I`d check with Autopac, surely they don`t expect drivers to kill dogs!

To avoid hitting an animal and damage your vehicle, you are at fault, unless you have witnesses that can prove your story. A dash cam should help. Otherwise, how does MPI know that you are telling the truth (not saying that you are lying, but how does MPI know that - too many people do lie). Unfortunately, you have to hit the animal to verify your claim. I know, it is terrible that you have to hit an animal to prove your innocence.  
 
Yes, MPI expects you to kill animals if you want to be innocent of damaging your vehicle after the fact.

ZachT is right. It would be an at fault accident. The same for if you swerve to miss a deer and hit the ditch. And I'm not sure it matters if you have someone to corroborate your story either. You may have been better to hit the dog when it comes to the insurance company and your deductible.

Sadly it is considered an at fault collision even though no other vehicles were involved.  
 
I know this because I hit a curb in 2010 causing damage to the front end of the car I was driving. I took a hit to my license, I can't remember how bad as MPI was still switching over to their new system when mine happened. I did pay the vehicle owner's deductible because it was my fault so expect to pay your deductible.  
 
With MPI's new point system, I think at fault collisions drop you down 3-5 points but I could be wrong. I'm finally sitting at a +5 again.

I should add, the only way to avoid taking a hit to your license in order to keep your driver premium, is buying back your claim.

If it''''''''s a child on a bike, MPI has the same rule. If you want to avoid being found guilty, you also need to hit the bike....  
 
It still gets worse, if you hit the bike, MPI''''''''s recovery unit will wait almost 2 full years and then send out a letter to the bike rider or their family telling them they have been found guilty and to avoid a lawsuit they need to pay for the cost of the repair the other parties vehicle.  
 
Why they wait 2 years you ask: firstly, to destroy any chance of you finding evidence and/or witnesses. Secondly, one of their wonderful laws says, you as the guilty person only have 2 years from the date of the accident to defend yourself from the claim. I our case, they gave us first notice by a registered letter with only 10 days left in the 2 year window.  
 
FYI, the person at Autopac that we went to talk to, had a meat grinder on an award plaque on the shelf behind him.. When asked what he had done to win the award, he proudly stated, "he was very good at cleaning up the backlog of cases they occasionally had!"

Get a quote on how much the damage is. If the same or not much more than your deductible, do not put a claim in. Have it fixed on your own and this will not affect your licence. If it is way more to have it fixed, and you put in a claim, believe it will be considered your fault.  
 
It may not affect your license, but probably insurance premium will go up.

Your license will drop about 2 spots if you put in a claim because it is still considered an at fault collision. Due to the fact it's minor and no other vehicles involved they shouldn't drop you more than 2 points.  
 
As other have also mentioned it could effect your insurance as well.

Yes, you will have to pay your deductible as it is your fault. However, it is actually at the discretion of your MPI team whether or not you take a hit to your license. Last year, I had to swerve and hit a curb after I was cut off by a truck in Winnipeg. I was told at the time that it may or may not effect my license. The accident was deemed "neutral" (so nobody was deemed at fault) and I had to pay my deductible and never had a hit to my license.

so you pay your deductable, have car fixed and if you deem it better to pay the repairs rather than take a hit on license etc then within that year you can pay the balance back to MPI. sounds like the damage might be mor than you might want to take on though.
