I'm wanting to put a ground switch on an old tractor, but don't seem to be looking in the right places, it is for a 12 volt system that needs over a 1000 amps capacity. Have been told that some trucks and tractors do use these but not sure which companies or models.  
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Try ackland/Grainger for different aftermarket type guaranteed Toromount has Cat brand.

Princess Auto carries them, or any heavy truck place. Peterbilt, Freightliner, Fort Garry etc. They are pretty common

I had checked our acklands online but it seemed that some things are no longer being offered in Canada, will check out the truck places and maybe some of the ag or industrial places  
Did get one from princess auto, but it wasn't heavy enough and I fried it.

Fort Garry is usually a good place for stuff like that.

Hi Don. If I understand this, you are looking for a master battery disconnect switch. I buy them at Princess Auto or Acklands, but you need the one rated for 800 or more amps. ($40?) I usually install them between the ground post of the battery and the frame ground. If the battery is easy to get to, there is also a switch that installs on the battery cable end on the battery, and can be turned to disconnect the battery. $10?

That is what I'm looking for, have an old tractor that I want to be able to start on the coldest days this winter and this tractor has a tiny short somewhere and in the winter I don't want to be jumping it. It has a battery on either side of the tractor so I made up ground cables for both batteries and a ground cable for the one lug on the switch or disconnect, thing worked fine until we hit the starter button, and it melted the lug out of the switch.  
Thanks for all the information from everyone, maybe we'll luck out and have a mild winter and starting it won't be a problem.
