I just stopped in there about 10 minutes ago, and the young lady behind the counter asked if I know how to change a tire. Unfortunately I do not.  
 
There is an elderly lady sitting in her van, trying to get a hold of someone she knows to see if they can help her, but apparently no one is answering. I am assuming she doesn't have CAA, otherwise the tire would be changed by now.  
 
I am reaching out to the wonderful eBrandon community to see if someone that knows how to change a tire could help her, as I could not.  
I did not get more information, but I am sure if someone would call the Shell, the young lady would be able to give some more info.

It's not hard to change a tire. If you don't know how it's in the owners manual.

Come on she's a lady Maybe she has some health issues that she can't.

First off, the previous place over tightened the lug nuts with an impact gun. No way are you going to get those off.  
 
Unload van, find where the spare is, get out jack, crawl on the wet ground to find the exact spot the jack goes under, try to loosen the nuts with the toy tire wrench in the van. If a do-gooder even gets the nuts loose. Then, sit on the wet ground, lift up the 20+ kilo tire and wheel and get it to match the studs. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly.  
 
I have done this enough times to know that if you do not know exactly what you are doing, it will get worse.  
 
Some vehicles do not even have spare tires any more.  
 
Phone a towing company.

One of the first things I learned how to do was change a tire and my own oil when I started to drive, but that does not mean anyone can do it. Heck, when my hubby got a flat last week he went to fix it himself but the nuts were so tight from having the winter tires changed by the shop he could not budge them.

knowing how to change a tire is easy-I have been changing truck tires since I was 13. that does not mean I can always change a tire. Sometimes I have been unable to loosen some of the nuts-and that is with a good tire iron, not the useless toy wrench that comes with many vehicles. Placing a jack on a truck is easy compared to finding the exact right spot on a smaller vehicle-no fun looking for the little arrow on the underside of my car in the dark on a wet night like last night. There is a reason i pay for CAA-while i can change a tire I prefer not to do it any more. I hope someone helped the lady last night!

I thought my comment would get some of the women worked up but it looks like Brenda was the only one. Brenda I'm sure she got help long before I saw the post this morning. My advice would be that if she couldn't find a man to change the tire any 24hr tow company can do it.

you didn't give any advice - you said it is easy to change. If it was long before you got up, why even bother to comment, if that was all you had to say.

your "advice" wasn't any such thing-it was simply an unhelpful (at best) comment that wasn't worth replying to. (just so you know that)...it would have been worthy of a tire iron upside your head if you said it in person to a good many of us (though of course we couldn't actually do that to you according to the law) :D

Changing a tire can actually be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. For example if you jack up the car before trying to break the nuts free you can knock it off the jack. If you aren't on level ground and you don't chock the tires the car can roll.  
 
I would help just about anyone change a tire, especially an elderly lady.

eBrandon - the only place you will find an argument against helping an elderly lady change a tire late at night in the winter.... SMH....
