In Minnedosa charges $90/ hour. I had work done last week. They're thorough, expedient, polite, & extremely accommodating! Am unsure if prices are the same in Brandon.

most of the shops in brandon run at comparible rates. i recently called around and it sisnt matter if it was chev, kia or independant they all were within $5 of each other for shop rates

Most shops post their rates inside for you to see. I actually think it is required by law but I am not positive. Most seem to range from $90 to as high as $160. Hubby had work on his truck at Kellher and I believe it was around $120/hr. Best is to call around and ask they will tell you. And they are required to give you a quote for parts and labour before starting and have to be within 10% of the quoted price unless you authorize other.

There is one shop that has been mentioned on here that is easily more than five dollars below most quotes, so yes be sure to check around, big savings are out there.

Well as I stated the places I called were exactly what I said. As for private shops I'm unaware of there could very well be a difference. Only commented what I know.

Be prepared for substantial bill. I have a 05 Sorento sitting im my yard been there all Winter had a starting problem after trying numerous things checked the ecu and found Crankshaft position sensor faulty. So I have researched the necessary work extensively. This vehicle has the Mitsubishi engine. to get the cam belt cover off you have to remove the crankshaft pulley and EVERYTHING on the front of the engine Alternator AC Pump water pump Radiator etc oh and the battery tray. There is no room in the front to work without doing this AND you have to do ALL that to change the crankshaft pos sensor which while you have all that off you might want to change because it's a common failure also the cam pos sensor is behind the cover too  
this will give you an idea of the work involved  

I guess the reason I was looking at this from more of the private shop idea was the OP said that they might have other work available and would supply the parts, most shops like to supply their own parts, because the markup in prices helps with the costs of operating the business. Sometimes private shops will let you try and find parts if they think that the cost of repairing something might be extra pricey.

I had this same problem in November and after 6 trips to the dealership, turned out to be the door handle , once it was disconnected, I've had no problems, I now just have to lock the doors with my key fob instead of the door handle button. My car is a Kia as well. Strange but true!

Got a few things done on my SUV, he was very friendly, knowledgable and $70 an hour shop rate. 204-724-9494, I'll go to a single independent family run business anytime over the dealerships.

I have owned 3 Kias. The service department there is excellent polite and thorough and I believe they are $5-8 less expensive than most other dealerships.
