Currently I am using a 2012 Chevy with 5.3 to pull a 5000 lb trailer. A Duramax would be severe overkill so was wondering everyone is pulling with their ecodiesel and if it is a better option than the chev?

We pull a 7200# TT, and average 14L/100km with our '14 ED. No issues.

get a 6.2 gm 1500 and be done, makes ecodiesels look bad

I pull a 7500lb TT regularly and have no trouble at all.. lots of power good mileage. Extremely happy with mine

we have a Ram 1500 ecodiesel. We've never thought twice about what we haul. We had a 28ft pull camper, and now have a 28ft 5th wheel. Also haul a dump trailer,approx 8x6x3ish, loaded down heavy. never had to worry about power, or fuel consumption. In fact we get better milage loaded with this truck, than with any other truck, my husband or I have ever owned. Hubby uses it for daily commute for work and gets as good mileage as my mazda 6 lol.

Hadn't looked at the towing capacity of eco diesel but were much lower then I expected. Was thinking they would be close to the f150 ecoboost but they fell short of even their own ram hemi gasser with proper gearing. All three big brands have better options for towing in the 1/2 ton class but when not towing the eco looks hard to beat for fuel economy.
