Recreation Assistant (Full-time)
We are looking for an energetic and outgoing person to join our team as a full-time Recreation Assistant. Having a class 4 license would be an asset (or willing to obtain). Check out our Facebook page to see all the exciting programming our Wellness Department offers!
This position works 40 hours weekly. Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 12pm - 8pm, and Fridays, & Saturdays: 8am - 4pm. Starting wage $21 per hour. Eligible for benefits (Health & Dental, Retirement - company match) after successful completion of probation.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Wellness Coordinator with all planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating the activities of the Wellness department.
- Provides recreational services supporting high-quality customer service and resident satisfaction.
- Participates in community operations, community events, continuous quality improvement, and resident relations.
- Provides effective communication and reporting to the Wellness Coordinator.
- Assists with the development a variety of activities and programs for residents that meet spiritual, mental, and physical guidelines.
- Decorates common areas according to seasonal/holiday calendar, resident interests, and daily programs.
- Operates shuttle for special events.
- Liaise and consult with residents, families, and the community to maintain a good public image for Rotary Villas.
- Provides photos and videos of programs for the purpose of marketing materials.
- Utilizes professional communication to establish a working relationship with residents, families and co-workers for the purpose of meeting the resident?s needs, ensuring respect, dignity, individuality of each resident and staff member.
- Communicates in English verbally and in writing to the residents, their families and friends, and Rotary Villas team.
- Protects confidentiality of residents, staff and activities of Rotary Villas at Crocus Gardens
- Adheres to facility dress code.
- Always acts respectfully towards co-workers, supports teamwork practices, and maintains positive work relations and communication.
- Other duties as required, under the direction of the Wellness Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
? Possesses a high school diploma (Grade 12).
? A current and clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Check.
? Current CPR and First Aid Certification required, or must be willing to obtain upon hire.
? Superb organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
? Motivated to make the necessary accommodations to ensure program success
? Effective English oral and written communication skills to respectfully and compassionately work with seniors and their families
? Creative, outgoing and energetic personality
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
? Maintain a professional, but functional, appearance in dress and grooming, as well as high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene.
? Genuine interest in and concern for residents.
Preferred:
? Post-secondary education in wellness or exercise, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or a related field.
? Previous experience in recreation services or senior care is considered an asset
? Certifications and/or experience in other wellness related functions.
? Class 4 license.
