I don’t get why so many people don’t understand the rules of traffic circles. It’s not that hard! You do not signal to go into one, but you do have to signal to show your intention when you’re leaving the traffic circle. Hardly anybody ever does this. Do people just not know, or do they just not care?

I do not even bother with people who have no idea what they are doing. Four way stops? I can get there last, by several seconds, the other three do not know what to do. I always go first. Why should traffic circles be any different.

I would be a little carefull doing what you said you do, people can be odd at times, but if you are last getting there and don't wait, I'm sort of sure if an accident happens because of your actions, the other three people will likely have a pretty good recollection who was last at the intersection.

You are right about TheScotmans methods. It could end up biting him. I wonder if the three ahead are just coming to a full stop but not stopped yet? Not everyone one does the Famous Manitoba rolling stop!  
 
He sees three hesitant drivers so he may roll through and go. Not right but easily doable if one is faster at the switch.

The police can hand out a lot of tickets for it. Its just like people double lane changing, turning left when the light been red for over 3 seconds, passing right on the shoulder (on Victoria Ave at the east approach of Fowler's) etc. , people don't care and know there's a 95% chance of them not getting pulled over their stupidity.

Well I'll admit sometimes I forget and signal on and off the circle. Haha but it's just habbit. I signal everywhere else. Not hurting anyone by tossing an extra one in lol. Better to be extra cautious then not cautious enough

How often do you see a police car have their signal in a traffic circle so if some of them don't then why hand out ticket

I know what you mean, seen it different times, although I appreciate seeing people being defensive in their driving.  
I don't know how mobile you are, but at time one feels like jumping out of the car and doing the traffic cop routine.

IF people can't signal on regular roads, what makes you think at a traffic circle?  
 
It is common sense to signal while making a turn yet people don't do it at all..  
 
Also cops don't signal when using a traffic circle either.  
 
It's the same with speed. IT states 50, then why are people driving on 30?  
 
School zone are only effective 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. Why do people drive at 30km/h on the weekend?

All the other stupid stuff drivers do I am sure someone somewhere could manage this too!

Motorists just don't worry about rules. If the rules aren't enforced, then nothing will ever change. A lot of motorists just want to get to where they have to go, so rules don't matter. I see driving infractions everyday.  
(1) Not coming to a complete stop.  
(2) Passing on a solid line.  
(3) Passing in a crosswalk.  
(4) Not stopping for someone at a crosswalk.  
(5) Stopping on a Railway Crossing.  
(6) Running Red Lights.  
(7) Tailgating other drivers.  
(8) Not Signaling  
(9) Speeding  
(10)Texting while Driving.  
 
The list goes on. This all needs to be enforced. Nothing will change otherwise.

Notice the video people. I’ve asked several driving instructors in larger cities, driven in large cities with multiple lane traffic circles. Signal light on left entering circle indicating you are going around, (hence that strange way you need to turn your steering wheel left) signal light on right indicating you are exiting circle (hence that strange way you need to turn right). God forbid Brandon end up with a circle with more than one lane and figuring out that the inside lane has right of way. Just saying. Rant over. Be pissy about my use of signal lights in a circle. At least anyone wanting to enter should clearly be able to see while yielding that my intention is to continue in circle or exit.

You're seriously kvetching about OVERuse of turn signals?  
 
The traffic circle is a pretty simple idea. Yield to those inside. That i:ncludes you, bicycles.

I think for the most part people must think it uses gas or something to use signal lights.. most people I see rarely use them in traffic circles, or changing lanes on regular streets.  
I don't use them going in for obvious reasons but I use to let others know when I'm about to exit one. For one, it's considerate and two IT'S CONSIDERATE!!!

time you should have your right turn signal on when entering a traffic circle is when you are exiting at the immediate hand exist.  
 
otherwise signal intention to exit circle after you have passed the exit you did not use and before the exit you want.  
 
dont know how much more simple it can get.  
 
it would be amusing to watch a bunch of us dropped shipped into London Paris, rome any large city in eurupe that has been using many multi lane circles for years.

Some people learned to drive in other areas of the country where you do in fact signal into a traffic signal in one of three ways to indicate your intentions.  
 
Right signal indicating you are exiting on first turn  
No signal indicating exiting on second turn  
Left turn signal indicating exiting on third turn.  
 
It’s done like this because if you took away the circle your first exit would instead be a right turn, second exit would simply be driving straight and your third exit would have been a left turn.

Should have added the obvious that when exiting the circle you signal right to exit. The previous signals are to show your intent and communicate with other drivers.  
 
Again, no this is not how it is written to be done in Manitoba, just sharing

I can fully understand how annoying someone not using a turn signal can be. However in the grand scheme of things, the traffic circle principal still works regardless if someone uses it or not. Traffic wont be backed up and the world will continues on - just with annoyed fellow drivers.  
 
I don't mean to change the subject but I someday I hope people learn what to do when the the traffic lights go out and are flashing yellow/red. This causes traffic jams, near accident misses, and someday someone will get hurt.  
 
Contrary to what many people believe, and what the radio says, it does not mean to treat it like a 4-way stop!  
 
The flashing amber/yellow lights means that you have to slow down and be prepared to stop. Drivers must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians.  
 
The flashing Red lights means that you have to come to a complete stop and ONLY proceeding only when safe. AKA - as if you were sitting at a stop sign.
