to only buy Cat boots. I thought I would try Dakota boots once and they were composite toe and the most uncomfortable boots I ever wore. I switched back after 6mths back to a Cat boot. I then tried a 5.11 boot, paid a little more than the Cats but were amazed at how comfortable they were....until winter when the soles became so hard that it was like wearing a pair of skates. I paid the extra cash and bought a pair of Dr. Martens from UnionJack Boots (online) and wore those boots at work and off work cause they are the most comfortable boots with ankle support. Dr. Martens are known for their comfort and awesome quality! I have within the last year due to laziness bought Blundstones and now they are my daily wearers both at work and off work. Super comfy, just like wearing a shoe, zero break in time (for me) cause they were perfect right out of the box....and NO shoe laces to tie up!!! But down side to them is you really have to check your policies to make sure they are approved as there is no real ankle support. I know when I worked in the patch, they were not allowed on many sites. I keep my Docs. in my locker for when I need ankle support.
So it depends on what you are needing the boots for? Docs. for walking and ankle support, light weight and air soles.
Blundstones if you're not needing ankle support, but want comfort and safety.
5.11 for ankle support, waterproof, and comfy till it freezes.
I also have Royers for heavy work, little heavier boot, but I use them for in the bush, comfy, and waterproof.
Downside to all these boots is plan to spend $200+++ (but my Docs are 3yrs old and Blundstones are 1+yr and still going hard)!
