snowman5 said "Let's not forget two important factors. One, a long weekend is coming up and traditionally gas prices increase eight to ten days before that Friday of the weekend to guarantee we (as in all Canadians) pay more when it's time to fill up. Second, is the the fact the gas stations are definitely hurting with hardly any stock moving like it was before. I'm surprised they make enough to break even or to keep the lights on. My mini-van still has 7/8's of a full tank from when I filled it back in March. The truck is at half since mid April! ...So I can imagine these guys are not raking it in, selling Lotto and gum. Yes, Brandon gets "put over the barrel with our pants around our ankles" with the constant ten cent differences between us and other communities (and of course Winnipeg)... But, I wouldn't be surprised some of these stations are about to be shuttered in a month or two if world prices continues to sit at next to nothing and Canada stays home 'til July.
I can't believe I'm defending them... But give it a rest. They're (the station owners) just as much in financial trouble as the small retail and restaurants in this town.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong. "
think the owners have much say in the price they charge, it's up to the regional offices. From what I understand, the owners have never made much profit from fuel. They rely more on in-store purchases.
