Phone no on ads

I really wish people would put their phone No on the ads so that you could text or phone about the product they are wanting to sell or buy .

Because people lack common sense and will call at midnight, or 4 am… or just keep calling and calling when I am working, or in class. Then get nasty emails asking why I don’t answer… I would rather text or email and then call if necessary after arrangements have been made. But even if I put my number and say no calls , text and email only. Or no calls after 9pm, there are ALWAYS people that don’t follow that…… I sell ALOT of things, and I rarely post my phone number…. Honestly though, I only give my number to close family and friends, and I am rarely on it.

Putting phone number or email on ads makes it too easy for scammers to target a seller (and believe me there are a lot of people trying to scam you through classified ads). It’s much better to keep contact at a distance so that it’s more controlled and you can protect yourself a little. If that deters some legitimate potential buyers then oh well.

To be really safe, do not name your product, company or address. No scammin' here. Make the ad impossible for anyone to contact you - oh well.

They can safely contact a seller through ebrandon at first. When people have tried to screw you over for several thousand bucks you learn to be cautious and more careful with personal details.

Personally put my mobile number on pretty close to every ad when I sold an especially big amount of stuff over a lot of ads a couple months ago. Decent majority of replies that led to item sales came through text message versus email/reply form or old school phone call. Same rules applied for me with texting as anything else. If someone isn’t meeting in person or is asking me to click on a link to go any further or is asking for unusually personal info, contact ends and things are pursued with serious local In-person buyers. The idea of being woken up at 4am isn't a great one but in reality it never happened (not that I suppose it couldn't). There are other reasons a person might decide to not have their phone number online which is absolutely their prerogative, and when a person wants an item badly enough they will contact however asked. Of course there will be times when a person prefers to be contacted in other ways. Like most things with the classifieds, highly recommended to start with clear communication on what expectations are as a seller.... including how (or when) to be contacted, how you're selling (whether you take holds). There will be a variety of ways that folks prefer to sell. When buyer and seller engage in a way where both know the expectations things go the smoothest!

I use a Text Now (dot) com...got me an MB number to get messages and texts for my eBrandon ads.
I prefer calls to come to computer at home or at work. Also, I can answer responses online as fast as email. I don't open the app, of course when on the job. You can get app for phone, but I use it mostly on PC. Then I can respond quickly with keyboard and not using the little phone screen.
I no longer worry about giving my personal number out and won't get calls late at night when I turn off the computer/app.
