Warning to ebrandon classified ad sellers
10/22/2008 at 8:38 AM
I just want to send a warning out to anyone trying to sell jewellery on ebrandon. I myself sold a ring to a lady claiming to buy it for her niece. Although due to her workload, was very busy and wanted me to send it directly to her niece. I said I wanted payment before sending the ring so her bank had it all set up and it seemed safe. Although before trasfering the funds, the bank requested a proof of shipment receipt - this meaning I had to mail the item before receiving payment. The bank reassured me that the funds were held in trust so I sent it. Then the item was seized by the Nigerian government as the ring was classified as contrabanned and the lady had to pay a fee to get it (pretty much like paying duty at the border) It was $200 and she was able to put a stop payment at the bank. So I sent my ring and have never received payment. Then her friend emailed me claiming she had cancer and then later died. What a bunch of cr#p! She also said that her lawyer was going to contact me and blah blah blah. I realize the mistake I made and am paying for it but just wanted to warn everyone else as my husband decided to sell his ex's engagement ring and wedding band and she contacted him just using a different name - giving him the same story she gave me!!!! So she's out there scamming people - dont' fall for it!
She has gone by the name Kerry Goldberg, Clara Clarkson, Linda Hammar. She wants you to send the item to:
Ola Joseph
17, 0lolruntosin Street,
Mushin,
Lagos, 23401.
Nigeria.
She also deals through Barclary's Bank.
I have kept all my emails but feel I have run out of options - the only thing left to do is warn everyone else!
