New sources add more depth to eBrandon news page

To compliment an addition made earlier this month to the discussion forums that makes it easy to share postings from sites such as Twitter in eBrandon posts...
As many folks know, the News tab in the eBrandon main menu is a great way to see what new stories are popular across a number of locally relevant outlets. While it’s not as primary a section of the site as the Classifieds or the Forums it's built up a consistent regular following of users that check it a time or two many days to see what's new and trending in local news and sports. From there if a story headline is of interest they would then click the link to read the story that is available on its author’s website and perhaps later become involved in a discussion thread on that story.
Anyone checking out the News page over the past handful of days may have noticed that I've been experimenting with a new addition a little further down its right-hand column.... two separate boxes that show collections of Twitter tweets from local sources.
The first box combines tweets in real time from a handful of sources with what I'll call "ties to the Brandon news scene." Basically government, politicians, media outlets, reporters, institutions such as BU & ACC and a handful of other newsmakers. The second new box on the news page does something similar, but this time with local sports sources.... teams, leagues, media outlets, reporters and other local sports-related newsmakers.
I've been monitoring these additions a few times per day myself and have found both boxes to be a nice compliment to the direct local news links and Google News links that already make up the page. In fact it was through the new box that I first learned of Westjet’s recent unveiling of the addition of a second flight to/from Calgary. From there I was able to in no-time-flat locate more in-depth information on CKLQ’s website (tweets themselves of course have the short 140 character length) and then start a discussion thread in the forums that at last check has had over 3000 views.
If you ever have a source you know of that you feel might be a fit in either box or the main links on the news page, feel free to drop me a note through the Contact & Support link at the bottom of the page. I can’t guarantee it will be included since I’d like to be sure that these sources are as focused as possible on news that’s locally relevant but I always appreciate tips!
