Got a text from someone inquiring about purchasing an item I have for sale only thing is they say they are in Calgary and they want me to mail the item to them (they pay for postage) after I receive the money via interact e transfer to my email. Anyone else have anything like this and it turn out to be a scam?

It was a text message not an email

We also got contacted to send an item to Ontario. e-transfers are the best way to go as the risk is entirely on the buyer. Once you have the money, they have no way to get it back. We sent the item, they paid for shipping and insurance, everything was legit.

I've had many scam replies - here are a few clues that it is a scam and how it works. first, the exact article is not mentioned in their inquiry, as it is a "mass email or text sent out to many ads. A lot of times it's written in broken English. And it usually sounds too good to be true -"I will pay full price and pay to ship it". How the scam works - they say they paid you - send you a fake link to Paypal that looks like it's in your account, but...overpaid, or paid for the shipping and need you to credit some back to them. So then you go to your real paypal account and send them money. Bam. In all cases, I re-read the text or email and something didn't sound/look right. It probably is a scam. Always Always ask them to phone you and talk to a person if you are suspicious. Sad, that people get taken advantage of!

Seem to be pretty good. I have done many and not had any problems. Once you accept the eTransfer the money is sitting in your bank so there is no risk to you.
