Thinking about buying an Atv. I live in an area of Brandon that will allow me to leave directly from home. I am aware of trails at camp Hughes etc. but what about riding from Brandon. Can you ride in the country in ditches? Are there trails accessible from Brandon without having to load up on a truck or trailer?

There are trails on the south end of Brandon. Ditches are safe to drive along. People don't like atvers. Don't ruin it for everyone and do something stupid or tear up the ditches. There are places to go missing if that's your thing. I live in an area that is close to out of town but don't ride out anymore as people DONT like atvers. Seems skidoo people can do whatever they like though. There used to be a group in Brandon that enjoyed the sport and wanted to make awareness that it was an enjoyable sport. They wanted to turn around the idea of the "bad" atver. They shut down after lost interest and not having numbers.

I'm just looking to know where to ride. Where are there trails south of Brandon?

You can ride in ditch's as long as your quad is registered and plated (pick up pamphlet at any autopac dealer). There is ome decent riding in Sprucewoods forest (Shilo area). Can also find some mud at Camp Huges south.  
 
Its tough to find private land to ride on as previous poster mentioned. too many idiots out there ripping everything up and giving us "responsible" riders a bad image. (unfortunately I have had the displeasure of riding with some of these folks...including some of the former Brandon ATV group.....)

Does anyone know if this area has been mapped? If so, where could one find a map of the trails in the area?

nothing directly south of town, ditches are for sure a go but watch out for the ones less traveled, (rocks , garbage, ect). There are good trails around shilo, camp H north as well south. Also found some south of shilo as well. Lots of good places to go explore. We are out every other weekend or more as well as evenings snooping around. PM me if interested.

My wife and I are sort of new to ATVing as well. We bought a two-up a few years ago when there was no snow in the winter. We thought it would be an alternative to sledding but it's not the same. We have only been out a handful of times and mostly use the quad for plowing snow. We would like to do some trail rides and avoid the big mud holes.

You can quad the old railway between Ninette and Baldur which is now a multi-use trail.

Where about in ninette is the trail head and unload area. I never have done this but have ripped camp Hughes lots. Also is there a store in baldur for a quick snack for the return ride?
