Does anyone still use the spiral style light bulbs  
 
Can they still be sold - like ebrandon classifieds if have supply of new ones  
 
Or where can they be disposed

Compact Fluorescent bulbs are still sold in store, yes. Not worth the money in my opinion, better off going LED, but yes you can sell and/or use them.

They do last longer than regular bulbs and are available to buy.  
The burnt out ones can be recycled at Home Hardware.  
Anybody know if any of the other hardware store recycle the CFL's ?

I have been replacing my CFL bulbs with LED ones. Going from 40W equvalent "Soft" white (yellow) to 60W equivalent LED "daylight" (blue-white).  
 
I find the LED bulbs are the better bargain at nearly the same price (pack of 4 9W at Walmart is about $12 and are rated for 15,000 hours)  
 
The 9W daylight LED provide much more illumination than the 13W soft white CFLs.

The stores can and do still sell them and I hope that they continue to. I however, did not like the idea of having them forced upon us. I prefer incandescent bulbs for any light that is only used for short periods of time and/or only used occasionally, say once or twice per month. Incandescents are better suited to uses like motion sensor lights than flourescents. For lights that are used frequently and/or on for long periods of time, flourescents and LEDs would be a good choice.

CFLs were not designed to be used with the screwshell facing up which most light fixtures require causing them to burn out much earlier than they claim they're supposed to. Also just like a fluorescent bulb they use Mercury making them unsafe if broken. The price of LEDs is starting to go down and they are a much nicer light that will last much longer. CFLs were a mistake that shouldn't have even happened. If I'm not mistaken I believe hydro has a rebate program for LED bulbs as well.

LEDS also work well in our cold weather and in motion sensors, i switched most of mine a few years ago and love them, still like the incandescent bulbs for a few things and agree i hated cfls being forced on us as most of us new they were a mistake already

In outdoor fixtures? I finished swapping out all the interior bulbs in my house for LED but didn't do the outside fixtures as I wasn't sure the bulbs would withstand being outdoors!

LEDs are perfectly fine outdoors, they are becoming more common for outdoor yard and flood lights. Unlike a cfl which has a built in ballast that needs to warm up in order to give you proper light the LEDs just use a driver that will operate no matter the weather.
