The fee is now in place for loads of 500kg and under. Bigger loads are paid based on weight. From the release, "does not apply to the drop-off of E-waste, the drop-off of used oil products at the ECO-Centre, or drop-offs at the Household Hazardous Waste Depot." There's a few sentences that speak to purpose/allocation of funds... indicating that the fee is to "help offset the per tonne levy that the City of Brandon must pay into Green Manitoba’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Support (WRARS) Program" Link: http://www.brandon.ca/public-notices-details?var=3410 " |

So is this additional to the recycling or container fees that we already pay for plastic drink bottles, tin drink cans, battery recycling etc.Or where do those fees go? " |

if we could recoup some of the money that we have to pay every time we buy something recyclable? I guess we should be grateful for the cash back for beer bottles (if you drink beer) but they only give that cash back to encourage buying more beer.
I feel for the land lords, every time some one moves out next to me he's got to get rid of their junk. Last time he must have taken three loads! I don't understand why renters don't take their furniture, is it because it's too easy to get free stuff donated to them?
Last budget consultations I remember the final number for the tax increase being reduced because of the profit made from recycling, it was a bigger number that previously thought, so obviously money is being made right? Just that citizens cannot cash in, we just get another fee added to what we already pay.
