I am curious to see if this is happening to otheres. I have had very good luck buying articles from others off of eBrandon, and have had good luck selling the odd item, until yesterday.  
 
I advertised a large item and have been repeatedly contacted by scammers. People repeatedly stating that paypal is the only way that they can pay, that they are busy and it is the only method of payment that they have time for, stating they will pay up front and their currier. I have read about this happening on other sites, the first sign is the in the initial contact, a basic question...Hope still for sell...? (poor english I know but that is how the first two responses were written. I guess the poor english is another clue) followed by your des:cription of the item letter for letter.  
I am not sure how you get scammed through paypal as it is supposed to be a secure payment method, but from what I have seen do not sell to people contacting you in this way.  
 
Am I the only one experiencing this through eBrandon?

This forum is for direct cash - item exchange.  
 
Mention that the police have a video recorded area for such transactions and that is the only way you will deal now. I tried to locate the sign, maybe later today.

That I did not know, but it is needed. The first thing I did say was that is was cash only, but they are very persistant. It is obvious that others have given into their tactics. I just wanted to warn others and also see if this is common.

These kinds of replies seem to go in peaks and valleys and there does appear to have been an uptick lately. Text message from a number not from this area, want to pay by PayPal, try to ease your concerns by claiming to be "PayPal verified." Assure you the item is sold and that they're "paying" ahead of time, ask you to delete the ad and promise their "shipper" will take care of the rest. As soon as they know you're onto them they should move on. Don't click any links, don't share personal or account info. Attaching a pic of a recent conversation to give an idea.

Very heavily favours the purchaser if any conflict is brought up.  
In this case, they will pay you too much via PayPal, and ask you to give the difference, in cash, to the courier, who also takes your item.  
After this is done, they will talk PayPal there was an issue and they never received the item. PayPal takes the money back from you, and you are now out your item, and the cash you paid the courier.  
 
Cash is king.

I have a camper for sale right now on here and kijiji and have had 4 scams now. one from Montreal, Pennsylvania, Virginia,and Georgia. And ya crappy grammar, and the famous I cant make it myself, shipper will pick up and pay pal. Its funny when you call them on it how they don't communicate anymore.

Meet them in person in a local Brandon parking lot (Brandon Police offers this space at 10th and Vic with cameras).  
 
I have had nothing but good experiences in buying or selling locally second hand with real people.

We have a boat listed for sale on here and starting the day we posted it we got scammers texting us. From 4 different numbers...Denver and Pennsylvania were 2 of them according to Google searches. But yes we got the same story from all of them....the didn't ask anything about the boat, didn't care to see it in person, will pay by PayPal then shipper will pick it up because they're busy working. We just responded with must meet in person and pay by cash only. They quit texting at that point.

I have bought and sold so much via ebrandon my kids are threatening an intervention. The transactions have been very positive.  
 
I have been frustrated by tire kickers who want to take up a lot of time getting a lower price without first looking at what I had for sale.  
 
The other frustration is the PayPal scammers. When they text I just respond with I do not deal with scammers. You bring cash or you better dash.
