Parking hasn't been an issue and I've attended between various hours of 9am to 9pm. What GoodLife Fitness currently lacks are certified personal trainers. Hopefully, they will be able to hire personal trainers that can not only assist with workout programs but meal plans. Would be nice to see some personal trainers that have experience with competition preparation too. " |

Went with my son who works out daily and is an avid weightlifter approximately 6 weeks ago at their mall kiosk across from their gym (next to Hedleys).
My son wanted to apply for a job in person and he was told that they were only hiring "qualified and certifiedpersonal trainers with previous experience".
If they don't have trainers, then who the heck did they hire to work at this gym? Aren't they supposed to have qualified staff in order to ensure safe use of equipment? " |

can hire anyone to run the counter and clean, that's why you sign a waiver when you sign up. They are not responsible for you lifting/working out improperly.
Goodlife generally hire people with Canfit Pro certifications, but will also hire people that intend on getting there certification within a certain amount of months after being hired, but they work under someone else until that time. This was at least the case a few years back when I took my Canfit Pro course in Winnipeg a few years ago.
Just because you lift, doesn't mean you can train someone. Everyone thinks anyone that goes to the gym and lifts/worksout can train, but there's way more to it to be good and not cause injuries to others. Your son may be jacked up and in amazing shape, but may not be a good trainer, until he takes the proper training. And I am not saying he sucks or Canfit is the best, but this is where the liability comes in for companies (like you mentioned), to hire "qualified" trainers. That way if the trainers do something that causes injury there is backing for the company to say the trainer was certified and it's out of their hands and back onto the trainer instead of the company. You will probably see in the near future after the influx of trainers jumping ship that they will start hiring outside of the certified people, but right now they probably have lots to pick from. So your son would be best to go to ISSA or Canfit if he wants certification and go back and apply.
