I know of some people who let there kids stay up txt on cell or take it to bed on school nights and txt to 11pm or more is this right

I think parents need to set limits, and taking away the phone at a certain hour so their kids can get enough rest is one of those things that should be done.

I don't agree with it, but I suspect these are the same parents that also take their phones to bed with them. It's hard to set limits as a parent when you're not good at setting them for yourself (spoken from experience).  
 
It was in the news not too long ago that it's having a detrimental effect on the amount of sleep teens get.

we have always make our kid plug her phone in, in the kitchen before bed. Weekends it is allowed. Kids need sleep, they dont need to be up texting, or on Snapchat, or watching Youtube. I know our kid is a bear without a solid 8 hours. Our phone, our rules, till she pays for her own, that is the way it is.

with daisychain that what my wife and I do with our kids phones too.They are plugged in at night in livingroom not allowed to their beds when sleeping except Friday night Saturday night

Many schools have a policy that phones need to be locked up in the locker during class time.

We had the same policy 12 years ago when I got my first cell. But we would still sneak them in and text back and forth. If you got caught, it got taken away, but got it back at the end of class to put in your locker (well, we were supposed to lol)

Our boys phones are on the kitchen counter at 9:30 on week nites. Week ends are different.

We just use a timer and the power shuts our router off at a certain time at night and will automatically turn back on in the morning! Everyone needs their rest at night...

There is an app that we have, Our pact. It sets schedules and you can pick the apps they have access to during certain times. We love it.

Its none of my/or really anyone's business why some parents choose to let their kids stay up or take their phone to bed on school nights. One parent may think it's right, another may not. If you don''t want it in your house, don't do it. But you can't tell people that do allow their kids to do it that they are wrong. Maybe it works fine in their house. Stop paying attention to what others do, And do what you are comfortable with in your home with your own family!  
 
As for phones in class. My son was requested to bring his for music as he worked better with the background noise and concentrated on his independent work more. My other teen has theirs in class now, with sound off, as they don't have to keep them in lockers during class. We are almost done high school and it hasn''t been a problem at all. Not sure about teachers, but a couple subs have brought their phones to class and answered them in middle of class. I prefer mine having their phone on them in class. Just my preference.

i agree, while mpo is that kids shouldnt use phones, TV , books or anything really when they should sleep, whether its "right" or not depends on your family, not popular opinion

I agree. I allow my 13 year old take his cell phone to his room at night because he needs to use it as an alarm clock. This is my choice. Everyone has different opinions and I respect those opinions but in return respect mine.

There are no pay phones anymore. Many hotel rooms are doing away with clocks. Many people have the pay with your phone capability. No longer teaching math because every phone is a calculator.

there are payphones: Clinic Pharmacy, Wal Mart, Superstore, Mall - back entrance. They are still around.  
 
We also just stayed in two different, very nice hotels with alarm clocks.

Take a peek at amazon and you can buy programmable timers and set the power to go off at whatever time you like!

This is a great idea, but you can still text, etc even when router is off. And if you have a data plan on the phone, router is not needed as well. So I'm not sure how this controls texting and late night phone use?
