On Black Friday we purchased a new lg 55” tv which we are going to set up downstairs shortly after Christmas. Someone recommended getting a sound bar and I know nothing about them so been googling but there are so many. Not looking to spend more than $400. I see Best Buy has some on sale around that price for Boxing Day. Does anyone have any suggestions for sound bars? Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

You don’t need to spend $400 on a sound bar. Get a brand name (LG, Sony, etc.) sound bar with Bluetooth, wireless subwoofer and at least 300 watts of power.... You’ll have plenty of sound and bass with that set up. I have an LG 300 watt with wireless sub and it’s LOUD. Very good sound compared to your TV. Wireless sub means you can set it anywhere in your room and not have to run a wire. It just needs to be plugged into an outlet and it’ll sync with the soudbar.... Merry Christmas!!

Loud definitely doesn't mean good. I would skip LG and Sony if you are wanting something that sounds good. I'd look at Bose or a Sonos if you want something enjoyable, however the latter is probably out of your budget.

Yeah by loud I mean excellent sound and loud bass. I’ve had Polk and Bose and they’re not worth the price VS a compareable Sony or LG which usually are half the cost or less.... Sonos is great sound but you pay the premium price for that.... The OP said a budget of less then $400 which is why I suggested LG or Sony. And they do work perfectly fine

I bought a Samsung sound bar when I bought my Samsung TV a few years ago. I’ve been very happy with it. It does have Bluetooth capabilities. I think it was around $300 at Walmart.

We purchased an Integra DLB-5 object-Based Soundbar System sound bar system from television city. Great sound.

Got a samsung for my dad for Christmas and it was around $160 and it sounds really good, he doesn't have bluetooth on the tv and it works f

We have a Samsung and a 50' tv. Smaller living room. It works just fine. Mines not wireless though and I think if I had that option it'd be nice. Our tv stand is pretty cluttered with it plus all the gaming systems etc.

We recently replaced our 5.1 system with a Polk sound bar and I am not disappointed! It puts out a ton of bass, even at low volumes and the sound is absolutely amazing! One of the features I love about it, is that it has controls on the bar itself, very few bars do anymore. As far as the quality of sound per dollar, the Polk speakers give you the most bang for your buck.  
 
You can't go wrong with buying sound equipment from companies that ONLY do sound equipment. Beware, because Toshiba, Samsung, LG and Sony make speakers among many other things, whereas companies such as Yamaha, Denon, Bose, Sonos and Polk make all their money on sound equipment...they know speakers!
