Dictatorship? Yes, but not quite complete, yet.

Yes.
Although the transition from free country, from free society, to total dictatorship isn't quite complete yet, given the way things are going in this country, it soon will be. One of the first steps toward dictatorship or communist regime as some believe we've become or, at least, are becoming, was the omission of Property Rights from the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The second step took place at the same time, when a real guarantee of Freedom of Speech was also left out of our constitution. The Charter should read something like "every citizen of Canada has the right to freedom of speech and no government shall make any attempt to limit or restrict freedom of speech and expression". Now don't go telling me that there are some things we shouldn't be allowed to say. Of course you're not allowed to incite others to riot, to commit murder or commit other violent crimes and we have libel laws to prevent people from spreading malicious lies about others in public. What we don't need are restrictions on free speech that prevent people from speaking the truth just because there is a possibility that some group or individual may be offended by the truth, or in many cases, may not want the truth to come out because the truth will hamper the agenda of some activist group.
Instead of having a constitution that protects property rights and clearly protects freedom of speech, we ended up with a charter that does nothing to protect private and personal property. It also does very little to protect freedom of speech, in fact, the charter doesn't even directly mention freedom of speech. Because of this fact, so called "hate speech laws" were able to be passed that not only restrict the rights of Canadians to speak freely, these laws actually make it much easier for those among us who want to use our laws to take all of our freedom away to actually be able to do it. The adherents to the brain numbing doctrine of Political Correctness immediately come to mind. The predominantly left wing activist groups and certain "front groups" are the ones who are constantly trying to find new ways to force their agenda down the throats of all Canadians and these so called "hate speech laws", which are nothing more than restrictions on free speech, are just the tools that they needed. So, if you ask me, Canada took a major step toward totalitarian dictatorship in the early eighties, with the introduction of the Charter and the subsequent passing of restrictions on free speech.
Don't expect Justin Trudeau to be a one term wonder. He and the Liberals are hell bent on changing the way we elect governments in this country. No doubt their main reason for changing the electoral system is to better their chances of staying in power for decades to come. We, as Canadians, must demand a national referendum be held for such an important change to the way governments are elected in our country. It is our right to have a say. As for Justin Trudeau, he won't be prime minister for ever, but there are suggestions that his brother would like to have the keys to 24 Sussex Drive, so we could see another Trudeau as prime minister in the not too distant future.
As for Climate Change, don't even get me started on anthropogenic climate change, the biggest hoax of the millennium and don't bother to try to tell me otherwise. You'll never convince me of anything and you'll never force me to back down. Besides, you guys on the left have pretty much got what you wanted, even though that won't be enough for you. You'll just keep coming back demanding more and more like you always do, saying things like "it's a step in the right direction but it didn't go far enough". Sound familiar? It should. It's one of your favorite lines. Climate Change is the angle that the left has been using for the past three decades and will continue to use to bring us into their socialist/communist utopia, hell would be a better description, of a United Nations run one world government. Speaking of the UN, I don't give a damn what the UN thinks of us. The UN is made up of totalitarian regimes that slaughter democracy protesters in the streets, arguably insane power hungry dictators who not only execute anyone who they believe is against them but also have the entire family of perceived transgressors imprisoned indefinitely and/or executed. It's also made up of religious theocracies where women have no rights whatsoever and can even be legally murdered by a male family member. So why should I care what they think of me? Why should we care what those embarrassments to humanity think of Canada? Apparently, some of you on the left do care and that makes me wonder if maybe you actually condone what they do. Some of those murderous tyrants are very good communists and socialists, after all. LOL!
I also don't care what the European Union politicians think of Canada either. Most of them are in the process of turning, or have already turned, their countries into essentially bankrupt, socialist "welfare state" basket cases, largely by means of their way too liberal immigration and refugee policies. No wonder Britain voted to get free of the EU!
The same will happen here if we are not careful. The Liberals and future Liberal-NDP-Green coalition governments, made possible by Trudeau's proposed electoral reform, will no doubt turn Canada into the same kind of bankrupt, politically correct socialist basket case as many countries in the EU have become, thanks to similar political ideology. PM Trudeau, while in Europe not too long ago, as much as told the refugee claimants that, if they couldn't get into Europe they could come to Canada. Of course, part of the reason for telling them that has to be the hope that, if they do come and they will, they will vote for the party that flung the gates open, promised them all sorts of goodies and told them that, as soon as they are warm and comfy, they can bring in their extended families who will then be entitled to all of the same goodies. So, when I say that I wouldn't expect Trudeau to be a one term wonder, you can see why I might think that he won't be. As for us becoming a dictatorship of some type, we are well on our way and in my opinion, it started while his father was prime minister, when Property Rights and meaningful protection of Freedom of Speech were left out of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
