I was wondering if there was a place we could donate good clothes that could go directly to people that need them rather than passing through a middle man that charges for them . Does Samaritan House take clothes ? Thanks

Yes, I believe Samaritan House does accept donations of clothes. You might also try contacting the Salvation Army: and if you have clothes for women and/or children you could try the Westman Women’s Shelter.

The Elspeth Reid Resource Centre on 9th St takes clothing donations for their store. They sell everything for $0.25 a piece. Great for those who need it!

Baby and maternity clothes could go to the Crisis Pregnancy Centre.

I too have a large amount of clothes to donate.

Sometimes the churches know of a family that needs some help. I’ve donated some of my kids stuff to one before when they had a specific need for a family that was having a rough time.

There are many places in town that would make direct use of clothing and not sell it for profits like some places who like to advertise a lot do. I would start with either the Samaritan House or the Women''s Shelter. I have donated to both and they pass the clothing directly onto people who need them. You can take them down to the Samaritan House during their regular hours. For the Women''s Shelter, you should call them first and set up drop off arrangements. The Women''s Shelter can always take baby and kids stuff as well, as families arrive there with the clothes on their backs sometimes.

Oh yes!!! Picked up hampers there for years for clients...always a bin of used clothing that anyone can pick through...you are so thoughtful...just pull up and drop off . Hope you have a great day.
