Someone I know has been diagnosed with this & just called me crying really hard because they are in such pain docs say it is arthritis is it really ? You would think the medical field would have something by now to relieve the pain . They have been on all kinds of pain relievers , lotions potions no relief on the list for pain management could pass before you get the call for some people the pain is so severe they can not deal anymore .This person has so much pain in their legs & feet can hardly walk. Any suggestions , thoughts would be greatly appreciated .

I have arthritis in my back and I have pain every single day. Some days are worse than others. It can be unbearable. I’m sorry your friend is hurting as I know first hand how it can greatly affect your daily life. I am on pain meds, pres:cription cream, quarterly injections, see a chiropractor fairly regularly and try to stay on top of doing my stretches and yoga. I can’t tell you the last time I didn’t feel pain but these things help me manage and to push through each day.  
 
I cut out sugar and grains and stayed under 20g of carbs for 3 months and it did make me feel better. However, due to bad eating habits and some other unrelated health issues, I fell off that bandwagon. I need to start a low carb diet again because Im fairly sure sugar and carbs are triggers for my pain. Has your friend noticed if any foods cause them pain?

Your friends family doctor will be able to prescribe something to reduce the pain...heard that Arthrotec is quite effective..there are others....no need to,be in such pain.

The pain management is very difficult and debilitating for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Doctors prescribe all kinds of meds but they don’t always work. Also new meds take up to 4 months before you feel any relief if any, then you try another kind and wait another 3 to 4 months to see if they work. Let’s not forget all the side effects that come with all of these meds.  
 
Proper diet and exercise help but when you are having a flare you can forget about even getting out of bed. It’s a disease that is not visible at first. It not only affects your bones but it also can go to your eyes and organs.  
 
Not everyone reacts to the drugs and have to struggle and fight until one helps. So you are wrong when you say all pain is manageable.

Seeing a specialist can also be beneficial to fine tune meds or choose appropriate ones, ask to see a Rheumatologist in Winnipeg. They specialize in all types of arthritis.

CR the medications I referred to previously were through a Rheumatologist.  
 
Everyone reacts differently to these drugs. There are pain medications but there again, you can run into a multitude of health problems that were non existent before all the medications.  
 
There’s pros and cons to everything, that’s just life. I certainly don’t want to sound negative, scientists have come a long way but the journey is tough some days.
