Just wondering if there's anyone else in town with this disease? It's sort of a not talked about condition. Was hoping to maybe meet some others who share this awful disease and perhaps form a local support group. Its awful suffering alone.

Regular doctors misdiagnosed me for 18 years until I pushed to see the dermatologist. I had suspected for a year before I got in to see him I had HS and had even tried to tell my family doctor I thought i had it. She didn''t believe me because well I''m not a doctor. Smh. It was I must be diabetic because that was the only solution. So after that long and repeated blood work for diabetes I got refered to dr sheath. (He is an amazing doctor and I''m so happy I took the plunge and pushed hard to see him) Anyways he took one quick look and confirmed my diagnosis without me even mentioning what I suspected it was. So I''ve had my diagnosis for 2 years now and still go to see him regularly.  
 
Anyone having skin issues should see a dermatologist imo. They are more knowledgeable in skin conditions. Get a better and quicker diagnosis then with a gp

I was diagnosed with this by my family doctor recently. Suffered from acne and boils for most of my life until the doctor finally said that's what it was. Never saw a dermatologist just family doctor.

When I seen the dermatologist for the first time 2 years ago he was educating the doctors in the area on the disease. He had said it was getting missed and going untreated for a long time.  
 
The avarage time someone has it and gets misdiagnosed is 8 years and usually the patient sees numerous doctors. He's trying to change that even gets referrals from the hospital now.
