Have you had this vaccine and did you have any side effects?  
 
Where did you get it and how much did it cost you? (I am wondering if the cost is consistent everywhere)  
 
Does it last a lifetime and is it 100% guaranteed or is it like the flu shot where it just lessens the symptoms if you still get it?

Yes, two doses. Some benefit plans might cover it. Cost is around $150 each, but different pharmacies might be more or less. It is considered a non-insured vaccine provincially, so you may be charged by your GP/ NP to inject it. Some pharmacies also do injections, also for a cost.

Brandon Clinic charges $10. $142 at Superstore per shot. My arm was quite sore day 2 and 3. But knowing the affects of Shingles. It was all worth it!!

I only had one vaccine..Yes arm was a bit sore for a couple of days but other than that no issues

If you decide to get the shot just be aware this may affect your stability clause and you may not be covered on travel insurance. Ask the question. Some companies will decline coverage. This needs to be disclosed.

The first vaccine, Zostavax, was only one injection and was not as effective. The newer vaccine, Shingrix, is two injections.

Just found this info, a summary from MediSystems:  
 
Recombinant zoster vaccine (Shingrix) appears more efficacious than the live vaccine (Zostavax). Over three years, recombinant zoster vaccine prevents one additional case of herpes zoster (shingles) for about every 40 patients treated compared to one for every 60-70 with live vaccine. Both vaccines decrease the risk of post-herpetic neuralgia. The recombinant vaccine is more expensive and requires two injections whereas the live vaccine only requires one.
