Anyone had this done was it successful for you ?  
Is the surgery painful or just a little uncomfortable ?

I had it done many years ago. As I can remember the Dr. gave me a pres:cription for T-3's but I managed the pain with only extra strength Tylenol, so the pain wasn't to too bad. The only difficulty I had was with the packing in both nostrils. After the surgery the Dr. packs both nostrils with about 15' of gauze in each. It has to stay there for a few days to support the septum from both sides. Seems to me it was 3 days, maybe more. Dr. removed the gauze on the follow up visit. Just having to breath through my mouth for a few days, that was the only issue.

A friend had this done last year. He is so happy he had it done now and thinks the improvement is immeasurable. He was in agony for about three days and certainly uncomfortable until the splints and packing came out about as week later. He stated there was considerable pain for three days but painkillers helped. The rest of the discomfort was the draining of the nose and the healing back down his throat while his nose was still splinted and gauzed. He is very grateful now though. Good luck.

My dad had it done years ago, and from what I can remember he too was only really in pain when the packing was in. Once it was removed after 3 days, it was much better.  
 
He also said it it was worth it.
