I changed my washing pod for laundry and my adult son has had a very severe reaction to it, I have rewashed the clothes in Woolite but this has not cured the problem. Does anyone have an idea as to how to remove any residue in the clothes, have two full loads which seem to be unusable.

Maybe using a load with a little vinegar or baking sofa .

I was going to suggest vinegar and/or baking soda (or sofa, as you might be prefer... LOL!) as well.  
 
I will take multiple washes. Some of my kids are very sensitive to different laundry detergents, and we buy lots of second-hand clothes and get hand-me-downs. The really strongly smelling detergents take about 6 washes in hottest water possible for those loads with lots of "clean" detergent and vinegar rinses to get rid of the smell.

Hey how did you make out?

Grate 4 bars ivory bar soap, mix in with 3 cups washing soda and 3 cups borax. Mix together. Use 2tbsp per load.  
 
Wash your clothes a few times with this and see if it helps. Then use this as your main laundry soap going forward.

I get in Canadian Tire (Allen's Brand) works well at getting the crap laundry detergent out of clothes. And I have switched completely away from the brand-name laundry detergent (Tide, Gain etc.) because they make me itch. I use the "Eco" brand at Canadian Tire now & find it much better.

thanks for your advice, have washed with vinegar and again with baking soda and dried naturally. Waiting for the medication to work and the head to toe redness and rash to go before trying again, very carefully, to wear any of the clothes.  
 
The recipe for home made washing agent sounds interesting, will try it.

My hubby has very sensitive skin and regular detergent makes him itch. I started making my own and he finally quit itching. As soon as I use something different he notices immediately
