I am not saying stop fighting COVID-19, I am not saying it is good people are dying, I am not saying I wished for this... I mean it might teach society some humility in that EVERYONE needs to sacrifice during times of crisis. No one is more important than the other.
We remember the “Greatest Generation” and what they went through... they are the Greatest because they sacrificed for the good of mankind. Today’s society has lost most of that generation and have never experienced anything but selfishness & greed. Especially here in Manitoba, what has this epidemic really cost us yet, as a society. People are complaining about insignificant things.
Once this has cost people their money, their cars, their homes, their video games, their “stuff”... and YES even their LIVES in such a degree that humankind is at risk maybe we will see what is truly important in life. Every generation needs a plague that causes extreme hardship to learn the meaning of life... I hope this is ours.
p.s. My aged mother just described today’s society to a “T” in their selfishness. She said “These are extraordinary times just don’t touch me”, ie - People should help & sacrifice as long as I don’t have to.

While I understand what you are saying, I disagree and unfortunately don't think that it will actually change anything.
There has always been selfish, self-interested, and self-serving people on earth, just as there has always been selfless people.
Pain and suffering is relative. Just because someone else has it worse than you does not mean that your feelings are invalid. What one person considers insignificant is significant to another person, and who is anyone really to decide that for them?
Do not blame the individual for what society as a whole has taught them. We exist in a capitalist world where the people who act in their own best interests are the ones who get rich. We are intrinsically taught that we are more important than everyone else and thus we are more entitled to xyz than other people. Changes can happen on an individual level of course but nature and nurture go hand in hand.
