So I called the emergency dental number today twice. No one called back. I guess I’m really not that surprised by that given the current situation. But having said that I am in the worst intense mouth pain I think I’ve ever had. Have 2 very bad abscess teeth that are now throbbing in my temples. Ate 6 Advil twelve hour pills cause that’s all I had and it did nothing to stop the pain. So finally couldn’t stand it anymore went to the walk-in clinic and got some antibiotics and Tylenol 3 prescribed for me. I was really excited about the possibility of the pain stopping now but I was wrong. The first T 3 I took at 2 pm finally cut in about 30 minutes after I took it and did relieve me of that intense pain but only for about 3 1/2 hours. So I have taken another one at 6 pm because the pain was coming back full force. It says on the bottle to take one every 12 hours. So what’s going to happen tonight when I try to sleep? Should I take more or just hold onto my jaw in pain for the whole night? That’s my predicament and I don’t know what to do about it. Rinsing with salt water helps for about 10 minutes. It’s Sunday night, we’re dealing with COVID-19 and no dentist is going to want to help me out. There must be a few others that are in this situation. Have to make it through the night somehow and I hope I can get in somewhere tomorrow just to pull these things out. The antibiotics will take days to do any good. If I knew what I was doing I would take some pliers and rip them out myself but the resulting infection would probably kill me. I guess it is what it is.

Phone or go to Emergency!? They have the list of emergency dentists, should be able to give you more for pain if not getting relief. Tylenol #3 is usually every 4-6 hours with a max of 8 per day

I ran into the same problem. I did get ahold of a dentist and they still wouldn’t see me in person, they just faxed in a prescription for me. I really don’t know what qualifies as a dental emergency as my jaw infection did not.  
 
Do you have any sleeping pills? Perhaps pop some melatonin or any sleep aid you have to help. I know for me nights and first thing in the morning was very difficult. I hope you get some quick relief with the start of the antibiotics though, I did start to have some relief about 24 hours in.

Maybe applying an ice pack to your face will help. I don’t know that they would do anything until the infection settled down. Would they?

I don't know if oral anesthetic gel can be applied when you have an abcess, but it freezes your mouth - if you get the extra strength gel it really freezes it - I had a terrible toothache last week and the pharmacist said to try that. It killed the pain totally. You have to re-apply it but it works well. Good luck.

I understand that there is a virus but surely they can’t just ignore an emergency.. People can’t just be left with no where to turn.

If you have major pain from an abscess antibiotics won’t help until they start to kill out the bacteria, this takes a bit of time, and depending on the time they have been infected also plays a part.  
Question, have the abscesses formed a lump along your gum line, not along the tooth but higher up. The reason I ask is that the infection got started through the root canal, and from experience I haved at times pressed on the lump while creating a vacuum by using my tongue. If you can get the abscess to drain through the tooth you will likely get a fair amount of relief.  
I’m sort of odd when it comes to pain, if I suffer from too much pain I go to sleep, which is my escape from it.  
Hope something works because the antibiotics will likely take till tomorrow at the earliest.

Just go to emergency. In the time you typed that out you could of driven halfway there from anywhere in Brandon almost. There is always an on call emergency dentist. They will fix that. Just go to emergency.
