I do not see an issue with flying, because you have to ware a mask at all times. and before you can go somewhere you need to be tested (not older than 72 hours prior departure). I think we should mandatory when someone comes back or in to Canada as well. but so far I know there is still 14 days quarantine time to do after arrival. by the way when you not travel and you not getting in contact with some one who traveled is that not safe enough? I'm almost at the point of getting disappointed. they give us hope that with the vaccine there is an and of this. not even days later they dump our hopes in the hole. and always get told to hang in there. frustration is big when you not see the light of the end of the tunnel.
for my opinion as some politicians say we may have to live with this like we living with the flu. in the summer I would like to fly too, to se my mom maybe for the last time. so let us be calm and humans and accept different opinions.

Well, a few problem with your argument however.
No one "needs" to go on vacation, if I'm understanding what you say. Travel is how this virus gets to a new location. Worldwide, travel is slowly shutting down with these new variants.
Masks, while they help reduce the *chance* of infection, do not make you invincible.
Tests, while very helpful, also do not make you "all clear". You could have tested too early, acquire the infection after you've been tested, or have a false negative. That's why there's still quarantine rules despite the tests. It does, however, help lower the risk of transmission on the plane itself.
Quarantines work. That's why we use them. Unfortunately, lots of people ignore and/or break quarantine, or quarantine imperfectly. Hence the idea being floated of travellers basically being supervised in hotels by the government.
No one credible in power has said we can let up our guard anytime soon despite the availability of vaccines. It will take months, if not years, to vaccinate everyone. That's assuming the vaccines work as promised (there's new data this week that suggests otherwise) and that we can even get them (there's huge supply issues not only in Canada but in the EU, and forget about the developing world - they won't even see the vaccine until 2022). Pallister said himself today that we can expect restrictions of some sort until at least 2022.
I know it's frustrating, and I know everyone's tired. I'm tired too. I miss my mom. I miss my nana. There's stuff I want to do with my kids while they're still young and places I want to take them - those things are all on the backburner.
We can only get through this if we work together, look out for each other, and do our best with the tools we have.
