The Province has done Friday’s Covid data update. Below is a comparison of the previous update:  
 
BRANDON:    
Total cases on dashboard: 2215 (+48)  
Active cases on dashboard: 210 (+42)   
Recoveries on dashboard: 1979 (+6)  
Deaths: 26 (no change)  
 
210 represents Brandon’s highest ever active case count. The number has gone up by 158 in two weeks. 
 
The outbreak in 5/6 at Meadows School is showing as being up to nine cases.  
 
PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH REGION:  
Total cases on dashboard: 5892 (+71)  
Active cases on dashboard: 329 (+67)  
Recoveries on dashboard: 5455 (+4)  
Deaths: 108 (no change)  
Active Hospitalizations: 7 (-1)  
ICU Active patients: 2 (no change)  
 
In terms of districts within PMH, Brandon at 158 (+23 vs last update) has the most cases, followed by Spruce Woods at 15 (+2 vs last update). Next-highest are Turtle Mountain and Asessippie, each at 11.  
 
By age and gender, the breakdown in cases versus prev update is as follows:  
80-89: +1 female  
70-79: +1 male  
60-69: +1 female, +2 male  
50-59: +2 female, +5 male  
40-49: +8 female, +12 male  
30-39: +7 female, +4 male  
20-29: +4 female, +6 male  
10-19: +4 female, +7 male

Updated vaccine data shows that 84.8% of the population age 5 and over have now received at least one vaccine dose (+0.1% vs last update), 78.3% have received a second dose (no change vs last update) and 18.8% have received a third dose (+0.9% vs last update). Prairie Mountain Health is showing at 77.0% (+0.1% vs last data update).  
 
Brandon district data shows an 84.0% uptake rate in people age 5 and over (no change vs previous update).

The Province has done Tuesday’s Covid data update. Below is a comparison of the previous update, bearing in mind that a significant testing backlog will not yet be reflected in the data:

Total cases on dashboard: 2471 (+88)  
Active cases on dashboard: 465 (+88)   
Recoveries on dashboard: 1980 (no change)

465 overwhelmingly represents Brandon’s highest ever active case count, a number that has more than doubled since Friday.  It works out to 1 out of every 118 people as Covid active in the Brandon district when run against MB Health population stats. That's not far from double the wider Province where it's  1 in 213 or Winnipeg where its 1 in 192 people. 

88 has high chance of a single-day high, though don't have the individual daily breakdown for Brandon from Friday through Monday's update to see if yesterday's increase was skewed higher than average towards one of the three days.

667 represents a pandemic-high for Prairie Mountain Health, which before Friday had a previous high of 402 active cases (May 8).  
 
In terms of districts within PMH, Brandon at 465 (+88 vs last update) has the most cases. It is  followed by Turtle Mountain at 33 and each of Souris River and Assessippi at 26.  
 
By age and gender, the breakdown in cases versus prev update is as follows:  
70-79: +1 female, +1 male  
60-69: +4 female, +4 male  
50-59: +5 female, +10 male  
40-49: +9 female, +19 male  
30-39: +10 female, +8 male  
20-29: +8 female, +16 male

The trend of cases in ages under 60 continues, with 92% of cases being age 59 and younger. This on top of 95% of the same from Friday to Monday’s update. Since Friday, the increase in cases by demographic breaks down as 43% female, 57% male.

760 represents Brandon’s highest ever active case count, and numbers are believed to be under-reported. For wider perspective, the reported active case count for Brandon one week ago was 210. That was the highest total of the pandemic for the district at that time.

Over the past seven days, that’s 93% of new cases in under Age 60 or 59.6% between the ages of 20 and 49. 49% of cases in female, 51% in male.  
 
Updated vaccine data shows that 85.0% of the population age 5 and over have now received at least one vaccine dose (no change vs last update), 78.5% have received a second dose (+0.1% vs last update) and 23.5% have received a third dose (+1.3% vs last update). Prairie Mountain Health is showing at 77.2% (+0.1% vs last data update).  
 
Brandon district data shows an 84.3% uptake rate in people age 5 and over (+0.1% vs previous update).

Based on Manitoba Health June 2020 population stats for Brandon, 1033 active cases translates to 1 out of every 53 people in the Brandon district as Active covid/a recent confirmed Covid case. For comparison, Winnipeg’s rate relative to its population works out to 1 out of every 78 people.  
 
PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH REGION:

Active cases on dashboard: 1583 (+479)  
Recoveries on dashboard: 5455 (-4)

Two days do not a trend make, but yesterday and today mark Brandon’s two lowest reported single-day increases since before Christmas. To keep it all in perspective, only one day in the entire pandemic before this most recent wave saw the Brandon total increase by more than today’s +29.  
 
1100 active cases represents close to 1 in 50 people in the Brandon district as having tested recent Covid positive.  
 
PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH REGION:  
Total cases on dashboard: 7302 (+83)  
Active cases on dashboard: 1738 (+82)  
Recoveries on dashboard: 5454 (+1)  
Deaths: 110 (no change)

Prairie Mountain Health is showing at 76.7% (+0.1% vs last data update). Not clear on reason for reduced percentages. If anyone has come across anything please chime in.

That would make a lot of sense.

For anyone that didn't catch yesterday, CBC story on case counts and Dr. Atwal's statement yesterday that real case counts are likely 8-10x higher than what's s showing in the numbers which for Manitoba would estimate out to 16-17,000 new cases Wednesday. Because those case count numbers are so far off, CBC are moving to putting first priority on hospitalization data in coverage moving forward.

I'll be tweaking the format of these daily posts in line with that and starting fresh with a new data thread when today's update comes out.  
 
Brandon-specific hospitalization numbers aren't broken out, though for Prairie Mountain Health the hospitalization number was reported at 16 Active hospitalizations and 27 total hospitalizations yesterday. Active hospitalizations for PMH were 5 on December 27.  ICU numbers were 2 active, 3 total. 
 
Provincially the dashboard on Wednesday showed 211 Active hospitalizations, 253 total hospitalizations. ICU numbers were 29 Active, 30 total. Between Covid and non-Covid, ICU was at 92 versus the normal pre-Covid baseline of 72. 

FWIW, Ontario goes quite a bit deeper in terms of how they present hospitalization and ICU data... breaking down the data in terms of available beds, number of patients testing positive versus testing negative, breakdown by geographic area, graphing progression by day. Have to be careful with numbers and 100% straight-line comparisons to our own province when ON is 10x the population and other variables such as differences in measures, but their data page may be useful to some to get further read on the Omicron wave:
