We were told we might have to wait four months for the second dose of astra Zeneca but that more likely it would be within two months and we should call the pharmacy if we haven’t heard anything after 2 months. I think that you did the right thing , you have significantly reduced your chances of dying or becoming seriously ill from Covid 19 and more people should consider this protection as soon as possible. I feel incredibly fortunate and grateful that my parents, my wife and I have all received our first vaccinations.

They are also looking at whether vaccines can be mixed and matched. It might be possible to use another viral vector vaccine for the second dose (Johnson & Johnson), or even an mRNA. They're studying it as quick as they can.  
 
Even if you have to "start again" with the Pfizer or Moderna (mRNA) vaccine and get 2 doses of those in the end, at least you're getting some protection from the first dose of AZ in the interim if for some reason a second dose never becomes available.

Beginning on May 22, 2021, Manitobans who are most at risk due to certain health conditions and who may not have sufficient immune response from their first dose will be eligible to book their appointment to receive their second dose of vaccine. A full list of these health conditions will be released in the coming days. Once these appointments have been made, second dose appointments for the general public will begin booking, based on the date the first dose was administered.  
 
Manitoba Health and Seniors Care will be making arrangements to contact you directly when it is time to schedule the appointment for your second dose of vaccine. Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. Feedback from the public is valuable and appreciated.

She said the province still recommends people receive their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine 12 weeks after their first dose, but people who believe they are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19 can consult with a pharmacist or a physician to see if they can get a second shot sooner.  
 
Reimer said every vaccine currently available in Manitoba is safe and effective, and those who chose to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine made the right decision.

You are to contact The pharmacy or clinic where you got your first vaccine that’s what was discussed on the media briefing today.  
The recommendation is 12 weeks so phone the pharmacist or doctor.

Please check the Manitoba government website for stock availability for AstraZeneca. If the pharmacy you got the first one at doesn’t have stock you can go to another pharmacy. Calling your pharmacy won’t do anything. They don’t have stock and don’t know when they are getting it. Wait for a call from then or if you are in urgent need then check the MB Gov site Vaccine Finder. Right now it’s showing Safeway. Not sure if it’s Aztrazeneca or Moderna though would have to call.

On it Safeway updated today May 26 says call to confirm if appointments available And FYI you do not have to go to same place you got first shot.

WINNIPEG - Manitoba health officials say there are no immediate plans to administer early second doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, despite the risk of some doses being thrown out because of expiry dates.  
 
Some doses of the vaccine are set to expire in May, while others will expire in June.  
 
During Wednesday’s vaccine briefing, Dr. Joss Reimer, medical lead of the province’s vaccine task force, said pharmacists and physicians would be able to administer the vaccines to people on a case-by-case basis.

Don't regret getting protection, all my family in UK have had the AZ and none have had any problems whatsoever.  
38 million there have had the dose so far and around 400,000 are being done each day at present.  
I would have jumped at the chance to have had the AZ months ago, but had to wait for the Pfizer one on age basis, done only last month. So you will no doubt have had your second one before me.

I wish the province would make public how many doses have been wasted since the start of the vaccination program! I think we might all be quite surprised!

to wait for the UK study on mixing and matching. Quebec did the pertinent thing and used what they have going bad. The rest of the provinces are chicken. Once that study comes out that a second dose of Phizer or Moderna after a first dose of AZ is ok, we are all going to be funneled to the mRNA products. Then the Canadian government can pretend to be heroes and forego all of our AZ/Covishield doses ordered and allow poorer nations to take them. Us with AZ shots have been left whistling in the wind. I feel fortunate that I do not require my second shot until July 19. A lot can happen before then.

So after phoning a few pharmacies in and around Brandon nothing available. Winnipeg super thrifty apparently had some. Have we used all that is due to expire or does anyone have any information.

If you had your shot on or before April 8 including Astra Zeneca you can now book second shot of Moderna or Pfizer .

I had not seen the enhanced before but I would print them both and fill them out just in case saves time if you have them filled out.  
 
Saves time if you fill them out take them with you And you need your health card too.  
You can only enter centre 15 minutes prior to appointment.  
Very organized and lots of assistance too.  
You have to stay for 15 minutes after vaccine too can’t sneak out LOL  
 
My appointment was at 11:00 I went 15 minutes to 11 had my shot out at 11:10

Hopefully you booked your appointment. If so call to see if there is anything earlier sometimes people cancel. Call early in the morning they open 6:30 .  
Also our son got AZ and was told to wait at least 12 weeks before second vaccine for best results.

It says 12 weeks for AZ is minimum for best results and can go to 16 but read it yourself make judgement .  
 
Why don’t you call the pharmacy who gave you the vaccine I’m sure he/she will be able to put your mind at ease about 12 weeks being minimum wait time.

You do not need to fill out another consent form for your 2nd dose, your written consent from your first dose is stored in the computer and is sufficient for both doses. (I had my second dose of Pfizer at the Keystone and they said you do not need a consent for second dose)

Had to have second consent form filled out and I got first and second Pfizer vaccines ar the Keystone got 2nd yesterday at Keystone Centre.  
 
It was right on the appointment confirmation email, and the 2 reminder emails.

Easy to fill out why not just do it and take it with you, that way you’re prepared.  
They took my consent form at first desk, checked it in computer and gave it back to me to give to the nurse giving me vaccine - she checked it in computer and entered “ Pfizer” on bottom of form , signed and kept the form in file on desk.  
 
That’s all I can tell you that’s what I did both times - but considering as you said it was different at pharmacy I would take forms but that is entirely your choice.

To clarify a couple of things (from someone in 'the system').  
 
There is no 'enhanced' consent form anymore - there is only one form. The latest version of the form can be found here:

It states on the above page that 'everyone who is immunized must complete the consent form'. While the vaccines given at every location are entered into the PHIMS system, it is not feasible for the immunizers to look up every consent. It is recommended to complete the consent and take it with you for your second shot, to help the sites run smoothly and efficiently.

don;'t take it you will be filling it out there. There were a few when I had my second shot last week.

My first dose was April 30th. Just booked Pfizer for my 2nd on June 28.  
 
It was definitely a different process booking through the keystone but wasn’t too hard
