Has anyone used a public trustee to help a family member who is vulnerable? Thanks

I understand the Public Trustee do provide a needed service. I am told they charge well for their time.  
 
There are three parties we know who can no longer do their own business. I have volunteered. The health care directive and power of attorney etc was drafted by their lawyer while they were able to function.  
 
It is a serious responsibility. Extended family and friends must be supportive. One party passed and some conversations were tense.  
 
If you suspect trouble in future, the expense of the public trustee is a worthwhile investment.  
 
If there is money involved, many people evolve into blood sucking vampires.
