I also have no delusions that having a population vaccinated makes the virus go away like some people seem to have. "
I don't think many are under the illusion that the virus will completely go away but anything I've seen supports it being manageable to the point of returning to a form of normal when vaccination is widespread enough. USA story, but case in point based on same virus and same vaccines:

I've seen the narrative of suggesting that what we've seen in the third wave is a medical system issue unique to this province but personally havent seen that case laid out convincingly. Won't say that there arent areas that can be targeted to improve in everyone's best interests, but if this is a discussion about Covid vaccines is there an example of any medical system anywhere that's been proven to stand up to a Covid free-for-all on an under-vaccinated population?

Depending on how the virus/future variants evolve I can see one scenario being a future where society at large and not just this province or this country needs to allocate more to medical systems... facilities, training, staffing, etc in order to be able to have more beds to respond to ongoing cases. Let's hope that we never see a variant that un-responsive to current vaccines. Good news is it does appear that a double-shot provides a high level of protection against hospitalization vs Delta:

I'm aware that there's a labour dispute going on right now in this province specifically. Without all the facts and not wanting such a critical discussion on vaccine to morph topics I won't opine on that dispute except to say that I hope there is resolution that meets needs of all parties. I have a ridiculous amount of respect for the situation our medical professionals have been in on a daily basis throughout the pandemic and hope that over the course of arriving at a solution to that dispute no words said by anyone undermine that respect and gratitude.

We could have the best healthcare system in the world ( in my experience we already have one of the best) and it wouldn’t be able to cope with high surging case loads.
We have to reduce infection and case loads and the way to achieve that is to adhere to covid regulations and to get as many people fully vaccinated as possible.
We know that many infectious diseases and viruses have been controlled very effectively in the past through mass vaccination programs and often only resurface when those vaccination programs are allowed to lapse.
We should also pour more resources into educating the public about the safety and effectiveness of vaccination and the proven history of vaccination success.

If you are going to offer a lottery for people to get vaccinated....then...maybe once you are fully vaccinated with your vaccine card....you should be able to use it like a golden ticket along with ID....too many people have waiting too long and followed all of the rules and those ones deserve a break....I haven't been in a store since OCT 28...I am not going to go into reasons why I can't wear a mask and I stayed home and didn't complain about it....now....they keep moving the goal posts and I am getting more than a little annoyed about it....Remember...these are just the opinions of a senior lady.....
