Have been leaving the country-and returning-all through the pandemic. I know a number of people who have traveled to other countries in recent months. Some times they have some difficulty getting back to Canada, sometimes it has even no problem at all. That is why we have had specific travel related rules all through this pandemic.

i cannot leave canada and go to usa for even a day trip to enjoy what the usa has to offer, canadian govt . more afraid of losing recreational money to usa, i did what all the other 75% was told to do and now govt. putting more fear to travel because of another variant could possiby be too dangerous for us to move on yet , seems like we have always and will continue to be omly weeks away from doing so.

You are free to leave the country any time. As a Canadian citizen, if you show up at a port of entry (when you come back), they legally have to let you in. Canada has no exit controls (unlike places like China), so no one will stop you from leaving.  
 
However, the place where you're traveling to might not let you in. They have the right to make their own rules. You've been able to fly to the USA this whole time (lots of snowbirds went), they just won't let you in at the land crossings. I believe parts of Europe also had restrictions on Canadian travelers at one point, although I'm unsure of the current status. This has always been an issue, as there are many countries in pre-Covid that would refuse entry to Canadians without proof of vaccination (for tropical diseases) or a visa in your passport.  
 
You also need to comply with health regulations coming back. Canada has to let you in, but they can impose mandatory quarantine to protect public health, just like there's always been restrictions on agricultural products you can bring back (also to protect health). Manitoba also has quarantine procedures at this time should you leave the province to travel within Canada.  
 
So go ahead. No one is actually stopping you, as long as you follow the rules set out at this time. You just need to out some effort into it.

The land border between the two countries has been closed. No Americans are allowed to cross into Canada. Many people have been taking flights to US destinations or even other parts of the world. Upon re-enter into Canada they had to isolate. With new rules if you are vaccinated you don't need to.

I'm currently in BC, have been travelling back and forth to the States since April of 2020 with exactly zero incident. ...mind you, these have all been trips involving commerce.

Why not spend your had earned cash in your own country?

ive been retired now for a number of years and didnt take long to figure out who wants my money more than abunch of timmies and mcd,s, usa is a service country and they take a lot better care of us there than any place ive visited in canada, sorry canada will always just be a import country , training new canadians how to work in canada, life is just to short .......

Not sure who is forcing you to live here, but if you’re so miserable in Canada, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

This isn’t just about someone’s ability to drive down to Bottineau to visit the Walmart. (We all know it’s fun.) These changes allow Canadians who have been living and working abroad to come home, whether permanently or to visit family. We have friends and family with Canadian citizenship working in the States who are now fully vaccinated. They can finally come home to visit.

if canada is so great a place and these new rules allow family to return to family , all i ask is what would be the reason all these so called canadians,, need to be working in the states or other countries in the first place, returning to boast about how lucky they are or how trudeau puts , privelaged, i guess this govt . doesnt want to treat every body as equal

There are many reasons why people live and work outside their home country. Some marry a person from another country. So.e want to tour the world, so work their way around other countries. So e get a job offer that suits them better, or pays better, or is more appealing than what they could get here at home. (Hard to work on a carribean cruise ship or a Gulf oil rig in Canada!) Not every Canadian living outside the country hates Canada as much as you seem to!

It appears to be that way, not 100% sure though.

We are in Langley, with four crossing ports we can choose from. However it is hit and miss as to the border agent you get - my hubby has had business related equipment sitting in a border services place in Blaine Washington for over a year. He has tried twice to get across to get the stuff - both times he was refused entry, even though if you call a supervisor they say they would allow you - but it is at the discretion of the agent you get at the time.  
 
My boss has crossed that border numerous times over the past year via private helicopter with almost no issues. However the one time he came home he was refused re-entry into Canada at one port (abbotsford) - so he flew over to YVR and was admitted.  
 
Sadly border patrol agents on both sides of the border have been given too many "ambiguous" rules that they can apply or ignore on their own.  
 
Hopefully soon we can get back to life again.

primary hobby in life is to bitch and moan about someone taking their money. Go live in the US then. Convert all your Canadian dollars to USD, Pay thru the ass for medical and pharmacy and if you get sick you’ll be bankrupt and living on the street. Why do you even need to worry about getting back in to Canada? Sounds like a magical place down there- bye bye now
