I'm sorry...
9/12/2021 at 4:26 AM
But I have no sympathy for these people. I am not happy that people are ill and I would never wish ill on anyone but there is no part of me that feels sorry for them. I reserve all my energy, empathy and compassion for those who deserve it. For those who are UNABLE to take the vaccine and have to live with selfish people who stand too close in line, who walk into stores touching as much as they can get their dirty hands on (for the exception of the disinfectant at the front of the store), and who are clogging up the healthcare system.
Everyone with half a brain saw this coming. The premiere dropped the mandates while we were all watching what was happening with Delta in the U.S. and other countries. Kids going back to school. Flu and cold season starting. And morons marching around declaring their God given right to kill themselves and take as many people as possible with them. Protesting near a hospital....gladly pouring salt into the wounds of others.
ICU rooms are filling across the country and we will be in the same situation as before with canceled procedures and surgeries, remote learning for students and closed businesses. Everyone was sick of this pandemic but some felt they were above the rules. Their idea of freedom was more important than their neighbour's right to life. People making endless excuses for these pathetic people by saying they are victims of misinformation. No, they're not. People know where to go to get their news and who to speak to to get the facts. This is willful, deliberate ignorance at it's finest. Maybe they could be excused for their poor choices 14 months ago but that just doesn't fly anymore. If people are too lazy to go get the shot or too stupid to listen to the facts or too selfish to do something for someone other than themselves, they should pack up and move away. Go hang out in a commute for idiots and infect and reinfect yourselves until there are no more, but stop putting other people's lives in danger.
Everyone is sick to death of listening to the whining, rude self-entitled minority attempt to bully their way to getting their way. We are sick of politicians pandering to the angry, sometimes violent crowds. We see the news and are shocked at the behaviour of our Southern neighbour's in stores, at PTA meetings, at protests outside hospitals but we're not that far off. It is already happening up here with the B.C. ambulance assault as a prime example. It is time to stop placating the waste of society and state it very clearly....you will either do what is necessary to preserve life or you will shut up and go away.
What about my rights? What about the rights of everyone who have done the right thing for the better part of two years? Our sacrifices? Our compromises? The last thing in the world I care about are the rights of those who have done nothing, given up nothing yet expect to be respected for their choices.
How many people have lost loved ones well before their time from this virus and how many of those deaths could have been prevented if people just put up, shut up and got the job done in this country? I have never known Canadians to be this selfish. Look at the sacrifices that were made by EVERYONE during WWII. Soldiers leaving to fight and die for our rights. They would roll over in their graves if they saw how some people have bastardized that word. Women who have never worked before entering the workforce to earn money to pay the bills. Children pulled out of school to work the fields. Communities, cities, the entire country pitching in, doing what had to be done and not uttering complaints. Food, steel and rubber rations. Everyone sacrificed in some form and how are they thanked for their efforts? A portion of society knowing their behaviours and actions are prolonging this pandemic, knowing their behaviours and actions are overwhelming the healthcare systems, and knowing their behaviours and actions are making other people sick, are KILLING other people and just not giving a crap.
I speak for myself and hope this post is not removed as I don't believe I have breached any rules. I am stating my opinion and have not stated one false claim. It may be difficult to hear but it must be said and should have been said long ago.....oh, wait, I did say it repeatedly but will reiterate it yet again.....if you choose to not get the vaccine because of any reason other than the potential for medical complications, you are not deserving. You do not deserve the ICU bed over a responsible, informed person who has done the right thing but are suffering from other medical conditions. You do not deserve to take the attentions of our overworked nurses, doctors and other health care staff away from others who tried to prevent the crisis by getting vaccinated. You do not deserve the attentions or sympathies of those who have begged and pleaded with you to wear a mask, get vaccinated, socially distance, etc. for their sake as well as the community. You do not deserve it.
Sorry Adam, but I am frustrated at the numbers, knowing this was going to happen to our community AGAIN and being powerless against who I honestly feel are the most cruel, rude, belligerent, ignorant members of our society. I see their photos in the newspaper and on social media, proudly boasting their ignorance and spreading their misinformation and I refuse to excuse their actions or consider them victims. I will remember and feel no sympathy for them.
It is not too late to protect others. It is not too late to protect our seniours, our children, our immunocompromised, our neighbour's, our friends and our family.
