What are rules to travel in Canada for unvaccinated ?

I was surprised to find out you can fly

If traveling by car, it will depend on your destination. Some places have no restrictions.  
 
If you leave the province and are unvaccinated, you are subject to a 14-day isolation period when you return.

There currently are no travel restrictions in Southern Manitoba. There are restrictions for traveling north. They are explained in the link above.

Depending where you are traveling to, provinces, you need to verify restrictions. We just returned from AB, and proof of vaxx required to eat in a restaurant, so take your mask and get groceries. In sask you just need a mask at this time.

You have until end of October to be fully vaccinated if you wish to travel by air or rail in Canada.

Announced today - proof of vaccine required for all flights from a Canadian Airport as of Oct 30th. Negative test result accepted until Nov 30th to give people chance to get both doses done. After Nov 30th unvaccinated over 12 will not be allowed on planes unless medically exempt or an emergency.

The easiest thing to do is TO GET VACCINATED. Your travel will put you at great risk to be infected and put even more strain on out healthcare system.

there are so many things across Canada that need proof of vaccinations: you are going to be spending a majority of time in your car.  
 
Now with USA land border being opened up only for fully vaccinated so you can't go there and as you have to be fully vaccinated to go to other countries again staying home is what you will be doing,  
 
and there is medical cost if you caught it in Canada: Manitoba Health doesn't pay it all and Quebec doesn't even recognize it. Then if a death in your group all those additional costs which are not cheap.

No Vaccine card required on domestic travel.  
Not yet anyways.  
You just fill out the self-questionaire at Check In.

Proof of vaccine required as from Oct 30th. Therefore if flying before then, then no not required yet.

Do you need a negative Covid test to travel within Canada with WestJet?

It appears that you currently don't, but you will starting Oct 30 as per federal rules.

Also effective October 30, travellers departing from Canadian airports, and travellers on VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains, will be required to be fully vaccinated in order to travel. To allow travellers time to become fully vaccinated, there will be a short transition period where they will be able to travel if they show a valid COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of travel as an alternative to providing proof of full vaccination. That transition period will end on November 30. If travellers have not already started the vaccination process, or do not start soon, they risk not qualifying for travel as of November 30.

My friend is relocating to BC for new work offer. I guess it'll just be ground travel, so isolate when he gets there is it? TIA

Your friend will need to look at the Government of BC website to determine what the current laws are.

I was amazed how fast the line went in Vancouver to get thru security (and it was huge)
