Has anyone read this book? Any interest in discussing? I'm reading it right now and it's life changing. Would like to meet or online chat with others about it. I could create a secret Facebook group to maintain anonymity if any interest.

"Empathy without going so far as selling your needs short" kinda stuff, or "Me first, don't give thought to anyone else"? Especially with what we're seeing going on right now, love to see more stuff that re-enforces importance of empathy, compassion, impact of choices on others and how we can contribute to relationships, family and community!

Apparently being a “real man” is putting yourself first over everyone else. False.

Apparently being a “real man” means taking and forcing sex whenever you feel like no matter what the female. False.

Apparently being a “real man” means a stepfather needs to ensure his stepdaughters know how to behave sexually and other approved female traits. False. (Does pedo come to mind)

All of these “thoughts” are in this book.

A Real Man is none of these things. Get a grip on yourselves and be that real man not a jerk or worse.

I didn’t read this terrible book.

I read reviews of the book by men. Real Men.

I read a handful of reviews of Glover's book. Nice guy syndrome basically is what the psychology world terms as passive personality. It's a maladaptive personality trait. It contributes to low self esteem. You can have the traits to varying degrees. Not having read the book I can't condemn or condone it but any self help someone with these traits can get would be a good thing. The goal of improvement of those with passive personality traits is not to be selfish or aggressive but to be honest in communicating emotions and acquiring unmet needs. I commend the op for trying to improve his life.

I just got the book and am only 30 pages in, but so far its really resonating with me on a personal level, I'm seeing a lot of personality traits in myself I wasn't really aware of.

So far I see nothing that pertains to becoming a bad guy, it just seems to focus on the unhealthy aspects of being too "nice" all the time.

Judging a book by its cover/title/anonymous online reviews can be a slippery slope, if adam or exhausted want to read it without committing to buy it you can borrow my copy when I'm done if you like.
