Tattoo Aftercare?

It's been so long since my last tat, that I've forgotten how to properly look after it.
I week ago, I got a somewhat large tat on my forearm that doesn't want to heal. I was told to use non-scented "Lubriderm". However, after a week, it's still red and swollen in some spots, and feels like a bad burn. So I just switched to an Aloe gel tonight.
Any suggestions for tattoo aftercare?
