HELP...I blew a knee!

Can anyone in e-brandon land give me some advice on knee problems? A couple of months ago I felt a twinge just above my left knee-cap...ignored it and it disappeared. Last weekend I woke up and HOLY COW...pain just above the kneecap, tender to touch and I have been out of commission since then! I have been to the doc...prescribed tylenol 3, anti-inflammatory and rest. Done all 3 for the last week and it is no better. I have to go back to work tomorrow and I am basically barely getting around. Getting dressed and in and out of the car is excruciating!! HELP!!
