Vitamin and Iron Supplements

Recently my daughter was told she has low iron and low B12 and should take supplements. She doesn't want to take these because they make her constipated. Her Doctor says she is low on iron because she doesn't eat enough (any) red meat in her regular diet but she maintains red meat is unhealthy. Does anyone else know of supplements which are less troublesome on the bowels? She needs to get her iron levels up to a healthy level soon as she is hoping to try and get pregnant. The Doctor has ordered tests to rule out other causes and will give her iron injections but that is only a stop gap measure - she can't go in constantly to get shots besides which she lives in the country so has to drive in to see the doctor. In the meantime she is driving everyone crazy with the fatique and crankiness that comes with it and the constant ice chewing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
