Tonsils

I have a question for fellow ebrandoners about getting tonsils removed. I'm seriously considering seeing if I can get mine out but I need more information before I go for it. If you had yours removed...
how long was the wait from when you made the appointment to when you got in?
what was your main reason?
what was the cost?
how long were you off work afterwards?
and did it make a difference in you not getting sick as often (if that was your reason in the first place)?
any advice?
