How long did it take you to loose weight?

So my friend is going to start loosing weight this coming new year. And asked me to post on ebrandon a)how much did you loose b) what did you do to start loosing it c)anything else would be helpful. She wants to loose 60lbs and doesn't know where to start. She's getting a gym membership at the YMCA. So any advice please respond or PM me and I'll pass it along.
