Outgassing (that new TV smell)

We recently treated ourselves to a new TV. I find the plastic smell is so strong my allergies are acting up. I can't figure out what is running faster, my eyes or nose. Since opening every window in the house is not practical right now, is there some way to minimize the effect or speed up the outgassing? How long does it usualy take for it to "burn off?"
