with rumors of the sportsplex pool closing for much needed renovations, upgrades and repairs. Where else can one go to swim in Brandon?

Quite the cost difference in membership to lap swim one hour per day if I have my information correct.

At the sportsplex, what does your membership cover? Just the pool? The pool and skating? At the Y, your membership gets you the pool, hot tub, steam room, rec pool, full access to the gym, fitness classes and the work out equipment upstairs. A lot more bang for your buck there with many options for fitness than just a lap swim. If you are low income, the Y also has options to help you out to pay for your membership.

but they are members that go to the ymca only for swimming.

With dragonfly desires i already have access to a gym, fitness classes, and steam room. All i need is a lap swim pass. Paying 53.00 a month for a couple swims each week is fairly pricy! Plus i did like the times of lap swim at the sportsplex better than at the YMCA. I am currently looking at swimming lap at shilo!  

im not sure i get your question, the Y is cheaper and a great bang for your buck already so really no loss the sportsplex is closing, i always found that facility to be lacking for the town brandons size  
 
if you only lap swim an hr a day, what do you pay now? as far as i though membership is still cheaper then pay per use

I am currently swimming each morning at the Sportsplex as part of therapy/pain management to avoid back surgery. Because of my back issue I am limited physically. So I only need a swim access or membership.  
 
The YMCA does not have an option to swim only membership like the Sportsplex does. the price I have quoted is what I paid for my lap swim pass.  
 
I am wondering if a hotel might open their pool for morning lap swim.

opps i was looking at the one month price, which is higher then the Y, i see the sportsplex is significantly cheaper for the 12 month price tho  
 
i can understand you would like a cheaper rate because you only use one of the services but unfortunately the prices do count on not everyone using all services

Your sportsplex membership is cheaper at the expense of every tax payer in brandon. They need to raise the prices to be more reflective of the true per user cost. I get that it is a public building but it is crazy to lose the kind of money every year that they do & then have them advertise how much cheaper it is to go there.  
Perhaps the city should be renting out the rink for $25 an hour too since it is a public building & then let everyone complain about how expensive all the other arenas are

what does the rink rent for?  
 
cities supplement the cost of lots of recreation, parks, pools, rinks ect, not everyone uses every facility but many are partially funded so that the citizens can

When I called the YMCA to enquire about swimming there in the mornings, they neglected to tell me that on top of the monthly fees which you are able to pay only by void cheque or credit card the YMCA membership fee of another $52.50  
 
A walk over to the YMCA early this morning with cash in hand didn't get me my one hour swim as I had brought with me only the monthly fee. The lady behind the membership service counter was less than hospitable.

If I am not mistaken the tax payers contributed mighty heavily to this new YMCA build as well.  
 
Point is the YMCA's rates don't work for many people, and if all you want is one facet of the building (Like the OP) to use they are grossly overpriced.

So the option then is to speak with your money.  
I'm not sure what the complaining about rates on ebrandon is supposed to accomplish, there's a lot of services that can be utilized with that membership and OP is clearly stating that they only want to lap swim which is their prerogative, however the option to use more then one service is there and as someone who's been a paying member of the YCMA in the past having that option and not a whole bunch of little add-on payments later was worth the price.
